Used 2023 Nissan Altima for Sale nearGatineau, QC

How much does the 2023 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 13.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 87 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its impressive fuel economy, responsive driving experience, and quality audio system. It also comes through as a practical, comfortable choice with easy-to-use technology, which fits the Altima’s role as a traditional family sedan for shoppers who want everyday usability over SUV size.

The trade-offs are that performance is fairly pedestrian, visibility is poor, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, if you want a comfortable, efficient sedan with standard all-wheel drive, the Altima’s value proposition is strong.

With 39.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a healthy share of attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as cost-effective and dependable, with fuel economy that helps keep day-to-day ownership manageable. The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of durability by noting that Nissan has been building its CVTs for decades and that the transmission does a decent job of mimicking a traditional automatic.

Nissan also includes an Easy Fill Tire Alert, which can make routine upkeep a little simpler.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether you can live with the Altima’s modest performance and cabin compromises over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SR trim, SR Premium, and Platinum each build on the Altima’s standard all-wheel drive and mainstream cabin, but the higher trims bring more visual polish and equipment. The base setup is the most straightforward, while the upper trims add features that make the car feel more complete.
• Powertrain: Every Canadian Altima uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a CVT and standard AWD. Output is adequate rather than exciting, and the car is tuned more for easy driving than for strong acceleration.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring system, rear-seat reminder, Easy Fill Tire Alert, rear automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. ProPilot Assist is included on SR Premium and Platinum, adding adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio with 360L. SR Premium and Platinum get a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, navigation, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: Official Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings are 9.1 L/100 km city, 6.5 L/100 km highway, and 7.9 L/100 km combined in the base trim, or 9.3 L/100 km city, 6.7 L/100 km highway, and 8.1 L/100 km combined for the SR, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Which 2023 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SR trim, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the Altima’s core appeal at the lowest entry point. You still get standard AWD, the full Safety Shield 360 suite, and the basic 8-inch infotainment system, so it covers the essentials well.
• SR trim: This is the better pick if you want a little more style and a more engaging feel without jumping too far up the range. It adds a sportier presentation and is the trim where the fuel-economy figures are slightly less favourable than the base model.
• SR Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and ProPilot Assist. It also brings paddle shifters and the Bose nine-speaker audio system.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped Altima, including the larger touchscreen, ProPilot Assist, Bose audio, and the surround-view camera system that helps with visibility.

ProPilot Assist is standard only on SR Premium and Platinum, so those trims are the ones to target if you want the most advanced driver-assistance setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 87 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,743 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $23,088 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,611 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Altima has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may not see the same pricing strength that the model had a year ago.

Still, the Altima’s standard AWD, strong safety reputation, and broad appeal as a practical sedan should help it remain relevant with shoppers who want a straightforward family car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2023 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a five-star rollover resistance rating, though it receives a four-star rating for front passenger frontal impact safety. It earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS, but the updated side-impact test result is Poor.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every version and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring system, rear-seat reminder, rear automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. ProPilot Assist is standard on SR Premium and Platinum, adding adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist.

The main caveat is the poor IIHS side-impact result, which is worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines standard AWD with strong safety tech and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,705 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,088 CAD average.
• It centres on a single engine and standard AWD in a simpler trim structure.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $25,641 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $23,088 CAD average.
• It keeps the Altima’s practical formula while adding an upgraded touchscreen on higher trims.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and market availability, the 2023 is the sweet spot. If your priority is saving a bit more upfront, the 2022 is the better value path.
