Is the 2023 Mazda CX-30 a good car?

Yes — you get a 5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal with some clear compromises. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2023 CX-30 fits you well if you want a small crossover that feels upscale, looks distinctive, and drives with more polish than many rivals. Its classy interior and enjoyable driving manners are major strengths, and the model also earns praise for its safety ratings.

The trade-offs are rear-seat space and cargo room, both of which are limited. The infotainment system is also a weak point, so if you want a more intuitive tech experience, you may want to look carefully before buying.

With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-30 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-30’s appeal is reinforced by its upscale cabin, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety reputation. Its powertrains are described as refined and rewarding, and the model’s overall character suggests a vehicle built to feel polished in everyday use.

The performance notes also point to a well-sorted drivetrain and confident road manners, which usually helps ownership feel reassuring over time. If you buy used, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with its tight rear seat and limited cargo space.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-30?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX has cloth seats and fewer standard safety features, while higher trims add a more upscale cabin and more equipment.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-litre engine is the entry point, the 2.5-litre engine adds more power, and the turbocharged 2.5-litre version brings the strongest acceleration.
• Safety package: Mazda’s safety suite expands as you move up the range; the GX gets blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while the GS adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: You get an 8.8-inch display, Bluetooth, HD Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports, and connected services; turbo models add SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, and a 14-speaker Bose sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-litre engine is rated at 8.2 L/100 km combined, while the turbocharged engine averaged 10.0 L/100 km on the evaluation drive.

Which 2023 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 4 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, and GT Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, but it misses several key safety and convenience features that you get higher up the range. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the leanest equipment list.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the core driver-assistance features and keeps the CX-30’s upscale feel without pushing into premium pricing.
• GT: This is the better choice if you want a more complete luxury-style experience, with added safety tech, a head-up display, and more convenience features.
• GT Turbo: This is the enthusiast pick, with the strongest engine and the most advanced equipment, but it commands a premium that makes it harder to justify unless you specifically want the extra performance.

The safety-package step-up from GX to GS is especially important, since many of the most useful driver-assistance features are not standard on the base trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-30?

The market looks moderately favourable for selective buyers, especially if you are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 376 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,744 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-30's resale value?

The current average of $27,744 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,911 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the CX-30 is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can make it easier for you to negotiate if you are shopping used. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price carefully to stay competitive against similar listings.

The model’s strong reputation for quality, safety, and driving enjoyment should help support demand over time. Even so, the current trend shows that resale values have eased, so condition and trim level will matter a lot when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-30 safe?

The Mazda CX-30 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s safety suite is a major part of the CX-30’s appeal. On the GX grade, you get blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Moving up to the GS brings adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.

The GT and GT Turbo add an adaptive front lighting system, a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, and a head-up display. That makes the upper trims especially appealing if you want the most complete driver-assistance package.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines upscale design, strong safety, and enjoyable driving dynamics.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It offers a more upscale feel than many rivals.

Consider the 2024 if:
