The Lucid Air electric luxury sedan is an excellent first effort hampered by technology bugs.

It’s not easy to launch a new car, let alone a new car company. Nevertheless, Lucid recently achieved liftoff with the Air electric sedan, joining Rivian as an electric vehicle startup with legitimate long-term potential. Based in California and building EVs in a new factory in Arizona, Lucid Motors holds plenty of promise. That’s evident in the 2023 Lucid Air, now available in a more affordable Pure trim level that brings the starting price at just over $100,000 Canadian. And soon, the 2024 Lucid Gravity SUV will join the lineup, giving the company a three-row luxury EV in the format people prefer.
