How much does the 2023 Jeep Compass cost?

Prices have softened 14.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 438 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Jeep Compass earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating, which points to a model that lands well with owners and our test team alike. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, upgraded interior, and improved safety features, and many also like the larger touchscreen and advanced technology. The main trade-offs are weaker powertrain impressions from some drivers, plus the expert team’s concerns about poor value for the money and poor visibility. For you, that means the Compass makes the most sense if you want a compact SUV with a more modern feel and standard all-wheel drive rather than the absolute best space or value. With 29.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some market flexibility if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle many people find solid and dependable over time, with praise for its upgraded interior and improved safety features. The expert drive notes also support that impression by describing the new turbocharged powertrain as quieter, smoother, and more refined, with the transmission shifting flawlessly. Jeep also added a standard drowsy driver detection system and a rear-seat reminder system for this model year. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Compass still has some value and visibility drawbacks, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Compass?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Sport, North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited, (Red) Edition, and Trailhawk Elite. The base Sport misses automatic high-beam headlights, while higher trims add more equipment and the Trailhawk variants are the ones aimed at off-pavement use.
• Powertrain: You get a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It is smoother and more refined than the old setup, but it is tuned with fuel economy in mind rather than maximum punch.
• Safety package: Standard advanced driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go come on the North grade, while traffic sign recognition and front and rear parking sensors are available.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth for two devices, SiriusXM satellite radio, SiriusXM Guardian connected services with Wi-Fi access, and over-the-air updates. A 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, embedded navigation, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, and Alexa Built-in are available depending on trim and configuration.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada fuel economy rating is 8.8 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the expert team averaged 9.9 L/100 km in mixed driving.

Which 2023 Jeep Compass trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Compass is offered in 7 trim levels: Sport, North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited, (Red) Edition, and Trailhawk Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but you give up automatic high-beam headlights and some of the nicer convenience and safety content found higher up the range.
• North: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds useful safety equipment such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a more upscale look and feel without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Trailhawk: Pick this if you want the most off-road-focused Compass, with Jeep Active Drive Low, a low range, a 20:1 crawl ratio, skid plates, recovery hooks, and a lifted suspension.
• Limited: This is the comfort-and-tech pick, especially if you want the richer cabin presentation, larger digital displays, and available premium features from the test vehicle.
• (Red) Edition: This suits you if styling and special-edition appeal matter more than pure value.
• Trailhawk Elite: This is the most specialised choice if you want the Trailhawk hardware with the most upscale equipment.

The safety package starts with strong standard ADAS content, but the North trim is where you begin to get the more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Compass?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 438 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.51% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,277 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Compass's resale value?

The current average of $27,326 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,963 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Compass has moved into a more buyer-friendly position, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar quickly. If you buy at the right price now, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The model’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, but value concerns in the expert review can still weigh on resale strength. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass safe?

The 2023 Compass earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep adds a standard drowsy driver detection system and a rear-seat reminder system for 2023, and all but the base Sport trim feature automatic high-beam headlights. Standard advanced driver-assistance systems include forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability come on the North grade, while traffic sign recognition and front and rear parking sensors are available. The expert team also notes that the lane-keeping inputs can feel too obvious and that adaptive cruise control is not especially smooth.

The 2023 Compass had incomplete crash-test information at the time of review, so you should check current test results before buying.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Compass or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new turbocharged engine, standard all-wheel drive, and more advanced tech and safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,564 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,326 CAD average.
• It offers a more premium-feeling Compass with class-leading off-road capability.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,122 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,326 CAD average.
• It keeps the upgraded powertrain and adds stronger value at the base price.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of updated hardware and current-market pricing, the 2023 is the sensible middle ground. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2022 is worth a look; if you want the newest take on the same formula, the 2024 is the cleaner alternative.
