Used 2023 Honda HR-V for Sale near British Columbia

How much does the 2023 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 7.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 313 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda HR-V a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Honda HR-V earns a 4.4/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall reception. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

Owners repeatedly praise the HR-V for its smooth ride, great features for the price, and strong value. The cabin and feature content also stand out, with many owners saying it feels well equipped for the money. On the road, the HR-V is described as fun to drive, which gives it extra appeal in a segment that can feel purely practical.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and there is no hybrid option. That said, the HR-V’s full redesign, standard safety equipment, and more polished presentation make it a sensible fit if you want a small SUV that feels more substantial than its size suggests.

With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still enough market activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

Is the 2023 Honda HR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable and easy to count on, with drivers highlighting its strong value and well-equipped nature. That kind of feedback usually matters most when you’re looking for a used SUV you can live with day to day.

The test drive notes also support that impression, describing the HR-V as a practical, polished small SUV with a strong feature set and a reassuringly modern redesign. Honda’s three-year/60,000-kilometre limited warranty and five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain limited warranty also help frame the ownership experience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the slower performance and modest fuel economy will suit your needs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda HR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, while Sport adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone climate control, a power moonroof, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and a six-speaker audio system. The EX-L is the most upscale trim and adds perforated leather seats, a 9-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad, Wi-Fi capability, SiriusXM, HD Radio, and an eight-speaker audio system. The EX-L also gets front and rear parking sensors, and it is the trim that feels most expensive than it is.
• Powertrain: Every 2023 HR-V uses a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. It is described as more fun to drive than you might expect, but it is also not especially powerful, so you should make sure its pace suits your expectations.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim, and it includes adaptive cruise control, collision-mitigation braking, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, road-departure mitigation, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, traffic-sign recognition, traffic jam assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot information, and rear cross-traffic alert. EX-L adds front and rear parking sensors.
• Infotainment: Every HR-V gets a 7-inch digital gauge cluster and a 7-inch colour touchscreen, while the EX-L upgrades to a 9-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the lineup, but only the EX-L gets wireless versions. The EX-L also adds a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The HR-V is rated at 9.1 L/100 km city, 7.4 L/100 km highway, and 8.3 L/100 km combined in FWD form, or 9.4 L/100 km city, 7.8 L/100 km highway, and 8.7 L/100 km combined with AWD.

Which 2023 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda HR-V is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the standard Honda Sensing safety suite, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core HR-V experience without stretching the budget.
• Sport: This trim adds more comfort and convenience, including a power moonroof, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a six-speaker audio system. It makes sense if you want a nicer daily driver without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete HR-V. It adds the 9-inch screen, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, an eight-speaker audio system, Wi-Fi capability, and parking sensors, and it is the trim that feels most upscale.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so even the entry trim gets the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda HR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 313 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,595 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $27,837 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,139 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests the HR-V has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about what the market will bear. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside risk later than someone who paid closer to the previous year’s average.

The HR-V’s strong value reputation and solid owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Even so, resale performance will likely depend on trim, condition, and whether the vehicle’s equipment level matches what used shoppers want most.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda HR-V safe?

The 2023 Honda HR-V receives a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim, and it includes adaptive cruise control, collision-mitigation braking, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, road-departure mitigation, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, traffic-sign recognition, traffic jam assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot information, and rear cross-traffic alert. EX-L adds front and rear parking sensors.

A key strength here is that Honda now includes the full safety suite on every HR-V, including the base trim. That closes an important gap from earlier years and makes the entry model much easier to recommend.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Honda Sensing is now standard on every trim, and the redesign gives the HR-V a more modern, more polished feel.

The bottom line: The 2023 HR-V makes the most sense if you want the redesigned model with standard safety tech and a stronger feature set than earlier versions. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may still want to compare nearby model years, but the 2023 is the better pick if you value the updated cabin, broader equipment list, and improved overall presentation.
