Is the 2023 Honda Accord a good car?

The 2023 Honda Accord is a strong choice if you want a midsize sedan that prioritizes driving enjoyment, passenger space, and safety over maximum versatility. It earns 3.5/5 from users and 6.7/10 from our experts.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The Accord’s appeal comes through clearly in its redesigned, more modern cabin and its engaging road manners. It is described as an excellent traditional four-door family car that feels fun to drive, while still offering a spacious interior and great safety ratings. The trade-offs are just as clear: it does not offer all-wheel drive, it lacks a third-row seat, and it does not have a big cargo area you can pack to the roof.

The market also reflects that mixed value story, with 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Honda Accord reliable?

The 2023 Honda Accord presents itself as a robust, well-engineered family sedan with a strong safety and driver-assistance package. Its structure is described as feeling robust, and the suspension does a good job of filtering harshness from the cabin.

Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, traffic-jam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, a reversing camera with three different views, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic sign recognition, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The performance tuning is also presented as dependable in everyday use, with a powertrain that is adequate and a chassis that feels composed and confidence-inspiring on winding roads. The fuel-saving start/stop system is standard, and the car’s overall behaviour suggests solid day-to-day durability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is not the most forgiving choice if you want maximum practicality or the lowest running-cost profile.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base EX is the gas-only version in Canada, and it is the one to compare carefully against the hybrid trims because the standard car is more conservatively equipped. It has appealing cloth seats, a more technical exterior look, and a nicely finished cabin, but it does not bring the richer equipment you’ll find higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The EX uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder with 192 horsepower and a CVT. It is adequate rather than quick, and Honda’s front-wheel-drive layout is the only drivetrain offered.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, traffic-jam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, a reversing camera with three views, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic sign recognition, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen, plus Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, text-messaging support, HondaLink connected services, Wi-Fi access, an SOS emergency call button, two USB-C ports, and an eight-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 7.3 L/100 km combined, and the test car returned 8.2 L/100 km on the evaluation route.

Which 2023 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Accord is offered in 1 trim level: EX.

Here's the short version:

The EX: is the one to focus on if you want the standard gas-powered Accord in Canada. It brings the 1.5-litre turbo engine, a well-finished cabin, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Honda Sensing, and the core Accord driving experience. It is the only gas-only model in the range, so it is the trim that defines this version of the car.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Accord?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 104 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.80% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,502 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda Accord's resale value?

The current average of $27,512 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,915 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Accord has softened enough to improve your buying position today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays this way. If you buy at the right price now, you may reduce some of that depreciation pressure. If you plan to sell later, the Accord’s strong reputation should help, but the current trend shows you should not expect a particularly strong rebound.

Is the 2023 Honda Accord safe?

The 2023 Honda Accord earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it brings a broad set of driver-assistance features: adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, traffic-jam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, a reversing camera with three different views, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic sign recognition, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The system is described as accurate, refined, and sophisticated overall. The lane-centring system can waver a bit near highway off-ramps, and the lane-departure warning is subtle rather than forceful, but the overall safety package is still a major strength.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.80% compared with last year.
• It appeals to you as a redesigned, fun-to-drive midsize sedan with a spacious interior and great safety ratings.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Accord’s engaging driving feel and strong safety story, the 2023 is the right year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and asking price.
