What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Genesis GV80?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5T Select is the entry point, while the Advanced trims add more convenience and luxury equipment. The 3.5T models bring the stronger engine, and the Prestige trim adds the most advanced hardware. If you want the best value, the 2.5T Advanced and 3.5T Advanced are the trims to compare most closely.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower. The four-cylinder is described as lively enough for most driving, while the V6 is smoother and stronger.
• Safety package: The GV80 includes blind-spot collision avoidance assist with rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and several lane-change and evasive steering functions. Available features include driver attention warning, blind view monitor, and safe-exit assist with power child lock.
• Infotainment: You get a 14.5-inch HD touchscreen with split-screen capability, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cloud connectivity, and over-the-air updates. A head-up display is standard on 2.5T Advanced and all 3.5T models, and a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster is standard on the 3.5T AWD Prestige.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5T is rated at 11.3 L/100 km city, 9.5 highway, and 10.5 combined. The 3.5T is rated at 12.9 L/100 km city, 10.4 highway, and 11.8 combined.

Which 2021 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Genesis GV80 is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.5T Select, 2.5T Advanced, 3.5T Advanced, 3.5T Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5T Select: This is the most affordable way into the GV80, and it gives you the core luxury-SUV experience without stretching your budget. It suits you if you want the design, cabin quality, and standard safety equipment at the lowest entry price.
• 2.5T Advanced: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more convenience and tech while staying with the more efficient engine. It’s the trim to focus on if you want a well-rounded GV80 without moving into the pricier V6 models.
• 3.5T Advanced: Choose this if you want the smoother, stronger V6 and are willing to pay more for extra performance. It’s the better fit if you care more about power and refinement than keeping purchase price down.
• 3.5T Prestige: This is the most fully equipped version, with the most advanced features in the range. It makes sense if you want the top-spec GV80 and are comfortable paying for the extra equipment.

The GV80’s safety package is a major strength across the range, with advanced driver-assistance features included and more available on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Genesis GV80?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 36 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,824 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Genesis GV80's resale value?

The current average of $34,824 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,341 CAD.

That price movement suggests the GV80 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if you want to stand out against similarly equipped listings.

The year-round range still gives you some room to position a clean, well-maintained example above the lowest-priced listings. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Genesis GV80 safe?

The GV80 comes with 10 airbags, including a front-centre airbag, along with vehicle stability management system, electronic stability control with the traction control system, anti-lock braking, brake assist, and driver assistance and safety features including blind-spot collision avoidance assist with rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-change oncoming, junction-turning, junction-crossing, lane-change side, and evasive steering torque assist. Available features include driver attention warning, blind view monitor, safe-exit assist with power child lock, and more.

Adaptive cruise control with machine learning and highway-driving assist add to the GV80’s safety story, and Remote Smart Parking Assist is available for automated parking manoeuvres.

Should I buy a 2021 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 25% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 GV80 stands out as Genesis’s first SUV and a solid foundation for the brand’s move into a broader luxury lineup.

The bottom line: If you want a used GV80 with strong owner satisfaction, a lower average price than last year, and a well-regarded safety package, the 2021 model is a sensible place to start. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on the lower end of the market range and compare trims carefully so you do not overpay for features you may not need.
