How much does the 2023 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 9.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,023 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Ford F-150 earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, smooth ride, and modern features like the large touchscreen and advanced safety tech. In use, it fits buyers who want a full-size pickup that can handle work duties while still feeling modern and easy to live with. The main trade-offs are that pricing can feel high and some luxury features may be more than you need. Even so, 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels powerful, smooth, and modern, with enough confidence-inspiring equipment that many buyers see it as a dependable long-term choice. The expert evaluation also describes the truck as structurally solid, with secure handling and stout brakes, which supports the impression that it’s built to be counted on. Ford’s Sync 4 system also brings over-the-air software updates, which can help keep the truck current over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific truck you choose has been maintained properly and matches your needs, since higher-spec examples can be expensive to own.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans regular, extended, and crew cab body styles, with trims ranging from the work-focused XL to the Raptor performance truck. The base truck is functional, but higher trims add more comfort, technology, and appearance upgrades, and the XLT Heritage Edition brings two-tone paint, unique cloth seat inserts, and exclusive 75 Years interior details.
• Powertrain: You can get multiple engines, and the test truck used the twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It delivers effortless acceleration, but the truck’s fuel use can be a concern if you do not need the extra capability.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, automatic reverse braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centring assist, evasive steering assist, intersection assist for left turns, and a speed-sign recognition system.
• Infotainment: Sync 4 brings a 12-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, SiriusXM 360L, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. The system is easy to use, though response speed and readability could be better.
• Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, the test truck should have returned 12.1 L/100 km in combined driving, but it averaged 13.8 L/100 km on the test loop.

Which 2023 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford F-150 is offered in 8 trim levels: XL, XLT, XLT Heritage Edition, Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch, Platinum, and Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the F-150 lineup and do not need the extra comfort or tech found higher up.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the core tech and convenience features that make the truck feel modern without pushing you into luxury pricing.
• XLT Heritage Edition: Choose this if you want the XLT’s practical foundation with the added two-tone paint and special interior details that give it more personality.
• Lariat: Step here if you want more comfort and the option to add adaptive damping suspension, which can help address the ride quality concerns noted in testing.
• Tremor: This is the better pick if you want a more specialised off-road focus without going all the way to the Raptor.
• King Ranch: This suits buyers who want a more upscale truck and are willing to pay for it.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want a premium-feeling F-150 and are comfortable with the higher price.
• Raptor: This is the performance-focused choice, and it sits at the top of the range for buyers who want the most extreme version.

The safety package is a strong point, but the test truck’s lane assist could be overly assertive in some situations, so it is worth evaluating that behaviour on your own test drive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,023 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $49,333 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $49,333 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,451 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, but it also means future sellers may face more competition when they go to market. If prices continue to normalise, resale values could stay under pressure compared with the stronger levels seen a year ago. Still, trucks with broad appeal and strong equipment lists tend to hold buyer interest better than more niche vehicles.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford F-150 safe?

The F-150 SuperCrew earns high marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and nothing but five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, coupled with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, automatic reverse braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centring assist, evasive steering assist, intersection assist for left turns, and a speed-sign recognition system.

One caveat is that the lane-centring system can be a bit assertive in tighter situations, so you should test it on roads similar to your daily commute.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds the Raptor R and XLT Heritage Edition, expanding both performance and value-focused choice.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $54,810 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $49,333 CAD average.
• It adds an updated BlueCruise system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2023 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for the newer model year and its updated convenience tech, the 2024 is worth a look.
