How much does the 2023 BMW 3 Series cost?

Is the 2023 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 8.67/10 expert rating point to a strong overall package. The 2023 BMW 3 Series leans into a more polished, modern feel with sleeker styling, an updated driver-oriented cockpit, and lots of new technology, while still keeping its core sports-sedan appeal. The trade-offs are that a manual transmission is not available and the interior materials can feel cheap. For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a refined, comfortable sedan with updated design and tech wrapped around a strong driving experience. The market shows 29.3% of listings as good or great deals, which is a healthy sign for shoppers.

Is the 2023 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2023 3 Series is presented as a carryover of the previous powertrains and a mid-cycle refresh, which usually helps reduce the risk of major surprises versus a full redesign. Its expert assessment also highlights a quiet cabin, precise steering, and a comfortable suspension, all of which support everyday dependability. BMW’s standard maintenance and ownership costs still matter here, so used buyers should budget carefully for long-term upkeep.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 3 Series?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 330i, M340i, and 330e each bring different equipment and character. The 330i is the entry point, while the M340i adds more aggressive exterior details and stronger performance. The 330e is the plug-in hybrid option, and the base setup still gets BMW iDrive 8, the Curved Display, and standard 18-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: The 330i and 330e use a twin-turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder, while the M340i uses a twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline-six. All use an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 330e adds electric assist and can travel up to 35 kilometres on electric power, while the M340i is the quickest of the group.
• Safety package: Standard safety includes a rear view camera, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, BMW Assist eCall, Active Guard, and the Active Protection System. The Advanced Driver Assistance Package adds active blind spot detection, lane-departure warning, park-distance control, pedestrian and frontal collision warnings, Traffic Jam Assistant, and Driving Assistant Professional. Some driver-assistance features remain bundled rather than standard.
• Infotainment: You get BMW iDrive 8 with a 12.3-inch driver display and 14.9-inch touchscreen, plus over-the-air updates, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and USB-C ports front and rear. Wireless device charging and a Harman Kardon sound system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The 330i xDrive is rated at 9.8 L/100 km in the city, 7.0 on the highway, and 8.6 combined. The 330e is rated at 8.8 L/100 km on gas, or 3.2 Le/100 km combined in electric mode, with xDrive versions rated at 9.2 L/100 km combined and 3.4 Le/100 km combined. The M340i is rated at 10.3 L/100 km city, 7.4 highway, and 9.0 combined.

Which 2023 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW 3 Series is offered in 3 trim levels: 330i, 330e, M340i.

Here's the short version:

• 330i: This is the best-value starting point if you want the refreshed cabin, BMW iDrive 8, the Curved Display, and the core 3 Series driving experience without stretching to the pricier trims.
• 330e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the ability to drive up to 35 kilometres on electric power, especially if rebate eligibility matters to you.
• M340i: Pick this if you want the strongest performance, the inline-six engine, and the more distinctive exterior details that set it apart from the rest of the range.

The safety package is strongest when you add the available driver-assistance bundles, since many of the advanced features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 3 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 157 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.36% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,591 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $40,591 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,617 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy at today’s average, your resale position will depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment. Well-equipped examples with desirable features should hold interest better than bare-bones versions, especially if they present cleanly and have strong service records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2023 BMW 3 Series has been awarded a five-star crash safety rating from NHTSA. It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Advanced Driver Assistance Package adds active blind spot detection, lane-departure warning, park-distance control, pedestrian and frontal collision warnings, Traffic Jam Assistant, and Driving Assistant Professional with adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-change assist, emergency stop assistant, and evasion aid.

IIHS has not yet rated the 2023 model, and the previous model year missed the top-tier Plus distinction because of a Poor headlights result.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings a refreshed cockpit, sleeker styling, and more technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,525 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $40,591 CAD average.
• It remains essentially unchanged from its 2019 form, with minor equipment updates.

The bottom line: If you want the newer cabin, updated tech, and a better-supported shopping market, the 2023 is the stronger all-round choice. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2022 is the better value play, especially if you can find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
