The Q5’s ownership risk for used buyers is more about premium running costs than obvious durability concerns, so you should budget carefully for maintenance and fuel.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Audi Q5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry trim includes leather seating, heated front seats, a 10-inch touchscreen, standard all-wheel drive, and the core safety equipment, while higher trims add features such as a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a virtual cockpit, and more advanced driver assistance. The mid-range trim is the best-value choice because it adds a good amount of tech and safety equipment for the money.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, a stronger 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 261 hp and 273 lb-ft, or a plug-in hybrid with 362 hp, 369 lb-ft, and an estimated 37 km of electric-only range. All versions use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and standard Quattro all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, traffic jam assist, matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, a semi-automated park assist system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: Every Q5 gets a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and smartphone app connectivity. Mid-range trims add a customizable digital instrument panel, while higher trims can include a premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 40 TFSI is rated at 10.2 L/100 km in the city, 8.2 on the highway, and 9.3 combined. The 45 TFSI is rated at 10.6 L/100 km city, 8.2 highway, and 9.5 combined. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined once the battery is depleted.

Which 2023 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Audi Q5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Komfort, Progressiv, Technik.

Here's the short version:

• Komfort: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Q5 experience with standard all-wheel drive, leather seating, heated front seats, the 10-inch touchscreen, and the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is the least feature-rich choice.
• Progressiv: This is the best-value trim because it adds a good amount of tech and safety equipment for the money, including lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, traffic jam assist, and the virtual cockpit. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Technik: This is the most luxurious choice, adding matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, semi-automated park assist, and a traffic sign reader. It suits you best if you want the most advanced equipment and are willing to pay for it.

Rear-seat side impact airbags are offered as an option on all trims.

Should I buy a 2023 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its strong safety results and well-rounded luxury-SUV character.

The bottom line: If you want a refined small luxury SUV with strong safety credentials, good tech, and a softer used-market price than it had a year ago, the 2023 Q5 is a sensible buy. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also use the current market softness to focus on the best-equipped example you can find rather than settling for the cheapest one.
