Used 2022 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearScarborough, ON

How much does the 2022 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 16.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 113 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volvo XC90 earns a 5/5 from owners and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, impressive safety features, and luxurious family-SUV character. The XC90 also stands out for its hybrid technology and advanced handling, which helps it feel more refined than many three-row rivals.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and sluggish touchscreen response. That means you may like it most if you want a stylish, safety-focused three-row SUV and can live with some packaging and interface compromises.

With 38.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, especially for shoppers who value a vehicle they can count on over time. The XC90’s safety-oriented reputation and family-friendly character also reinforce its appeal as a long-term choice.

Volvo’s emphasis on durability and long-term usability comes through in the cabin materials and the available wool-blend upholstery, which is described as easy to care for and long-lasting.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright reliability and more about living with premium-SUV ownership costs and the XC90’s known usability compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volvo XC90?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Momentum is the most affordable entry point, but the R-Design and Inscription add more upscale presentation, including 20-inch wheels on those models and a standard Harman-Kardon audio system on R-Design and Inscription. If you want the best value, the Momentum gives you the core XC90 experience without pushing the price as high.
• Powertrain: You can choose from T5, T6, and Recharge powertrains. The T5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder, the T6 adds supercharging, and the Recharge pairs the gasoline engine with an electric motor for much stronger output and efficiency.
• Safety package: Volvo’s Pilot Assist combines lane-centering, set-speed and following-distance support, and other driver aids for highway use. Standard equipment also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking assist front and rear, rain-sensing wipers with integrated washers, slippery road alert, lane-keeping aid, adaptive cruise control, oncoming lane mitigation, and road-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The XC90 uses a nine-inch portrait touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto capability. A 12.3-inch digital instrument panel is also included, while the Advanced package adds a head-up display and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Fuel efficiency: The T5 is rated at 11.5 L/100 km city, 8.4 highway, and 10.1 combined. The T6 is rated at 12.4 L/100 km city, 8.9 highway, and 10.8 combined. The Recharge extended-range model is rated at 3.4 Le/100 km in hybrid mode.

Which 2022 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volvo XC90 is offered in 7 trim levels: T5 AWD Momentum, T6 AWD Momentum, T6 AWD Momentum with six seats, T6 AWD R-Design, T6 AWD Inscription, T6 AWD Inscription with six seats, and Recharge Inscription Expression PHEV.

Here's the short version:

• T5 AWD Momentum: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the XC90’s safety, style, and three-row layout without stretching into higher-priced trims.
• T6 AWD Momentum: This adds more power while staying relatively accessible, making it a smart step up if you want stronger performance without moving deep into luxury-trim pricing.
• T6 AWD Momentum with six seats: Choose this if you want the Momentum’s value but prefer the six-seat layout.
• T6 AWD R-Design: This is the sportier-looking choice, with 20-inch wheels and a more distinctive appearance.
• T6 AWD Inscription: This is the more upscale pick, with the premium presentation and standard Harman-Kardon audio that suit buyers prioritizing luxury feel.
• T6 AWD Inscription with six seats: Pick this if you want the Inscription’s richer equipment and the six-seat configuration.
• Recharge Inscription Expression PHEV: This is the efficiency-focused choice for buyers who want plug-in hybrid capability and the strongest electrified appeal.

The XC90’s safety package is a major strength across the range, with Pilot Assist and the standard driver-assistance suite helping it stand out.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volvo XC90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 38.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 113 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,874 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $40,874 CAD sits slightly below last year's $49,053 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if market conditions stay similar. The current average sitting near the low end of the year-round range suggests there is still room for value-conscious shoppers to negotiate.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volvo XC90 safe?

The 2022 XC90 received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ designation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also named it a top performer with a five-star overall safety rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The XC90 comes with a long list of safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking assist front and rear, rain-sensing wipers with integrated washers, slippery road alert, lane-keeping aid, adaptive cruise control, oncoming lane mitigation, and road-sign recognition. Volvo’s Pilot Assist system combines several of these functions to help keep the vehicle centred in its lane and maintain speed or following distance on the highway.

That said, the touchscreen-based interface can be slow to respond, which may make some safety-related adjustments less intuitive than they should be while driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines a stylish cabin, strong safety, and available plug-in hybrid efficiency.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,018 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $40,874 CAD average.
• It offers a polished, safety-focused luxury-SUV formula with modest updates.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,480 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $40,874 CAD average.
• It brings updated mild-hybrid powertrains and a more forward-thinking infotainment setup.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the sweet spot if you want the XC90’s strong safety reputation, upscale feel, and better pricing than newer models. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path; if you want newer tech and updated powertrains, the 2023 is worth the extra spend.
