Used 2022 Volkswagen Taos for Sale nearMississauga, ON

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Taos cost?

Prices have softened 13.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 291 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Volkswagen Taos earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its roomy interior, excellent gas mileage, and peppy around-town performance. The feedback also points to quality and handling that can feel more upscale than you might expect at this price point.

That lines up with the Taos’s role as a practical middle ground: it is bigger than most small SUVs but smaller than most compact SUVs, so you get useful space without stepping up to a larger vehicle. For shoppers who value everyday utility, comfort, and efficiency first, that combination is compelling.

Only 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its roomy cabin, excellent gas mileage, and peppy performance around town. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it for routine commuting and family duty.

Volkswagen also backs the Taos with a 4-year/80,000-kilometre warranty and 24-7 roadside assistance for the same period, which helps reduce early ownership worry.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with the drivetrain’s behaviour and the infotainment system’s quirks.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gives you the simplest setup, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience features. The Comfortline and Highline are the trims that bring in more of the desirable equipment, so base-trim shoppers should check carefully for the feature gaps that matter to you.
• Powertrain: Every Taos uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel-drive models use the standard 8-speed automatic, while 4Motion AWD models use a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and an independent multilink rear suspension.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert are included on Comfortline and up. Automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, and rear parking sensors are limited to Highline, while lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, dynamic road sign display, and remote start require an extra-cost package on Highline.
• Infotainment: The base trim gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while Comfortline and Highline use an 8-inch display with MIB3 software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto start on Comfortline, and Highline adds navigation plus an eight-speaker BeatsAudio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Taos 4Motion uses 8.5 L/100 km in combined driving, and testing returned 8.7 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Taos trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is offered in 3 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point if you want the Taos’s space and value story at the lowest price. It gives you the core package, but you give up several of the convenience and safety upgrades that make the higher trims easier to live with.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the features many buyers will actually notice every day, including the 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with 360L, voice control, wireless charging, and key safety equipment such as forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Highline: Choose this if you want the most upscale Taos experience. It adds navigation, an eight-speaker BeatsAudio system, automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, and access to the more advanced driver-assistance package.

For safety equipment, the most popular driver-assistance features start at Comfortline, while the most advanced features are reserved for Highline and an extra-cost package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 291 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,228 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos's resale value?

The current average of $22,292 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,877 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Taos has already moved through a meaningful part of its depreciation curve. For a future seller, that can be a mixed blessing: lower current prices may help attract buyers, but they also mean there is less room for strong resale gains unless demand tightens.

The model’s practical appeal should still help support used-market interest, especially among shoppers who want space, efficiency, and a smaller SUV footprint. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Taos’s Canadian packaging means you need to move up the trim ladder to get the most useful safety and driver-assistance features. Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert are included on Comfortline and up, while lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, dynamic road sign display, and remote start are limited to Highline and require an extra-cost package.

Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centring assistance, while Emergency Assist can slow the vehicle, activate the hazard flashers, and bring it to a safe stop if the driver becomes unresponsive.

One caveat is the reverse automatic braking behaviour noted during testing, which can be overly sensitive in some driveway situations.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Taos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It delivers a roomy, practical middle ground between small and compact SUVs, with strong everyday utility.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,079 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,292 CAD average.
• It adds more standard safety features and equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it already delivers the Taos’s core space-and-utility appeal at a lower average price. If you are willing to pay more for added standard equipment, the 2023 is the better alternative.
