Is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel economy, comfortable cabin, and impressive technology, and they also like the spacious, well-designed interior and smooth performance. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Jetta’s role as an efficient, comfortable compact sedan with a modern presentation.

The trade-offs are that performance is described as fairly pedestrian, and some drivers find the technology less intuitive than they would like. The Jetta’s value-minded refresh helps it feel better equipped, but it is still not trying to be a performance standout.

The Jetta’s updated powertrain and standard equipment should help it feel solid in everyday use, and the maintenance-friendly ownership experience is part of its appeal. • Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian recognition are standard. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist are offered from Comfortline.
• Infotainment: Trendline uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen with App-Connect, Bluetooth, two USB-C ports, and an SD card multimedia interface. Comfortline and Highline get an 8-inch infotainment system, while Highline adds a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 3 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core Jetta formula with the 6.5-inch touchscreen, App-Connect, Bluetooth, and the standard safety basics. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 8-inch infotainment system and unlocks more advanced driver-assistance features, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Highline: This is the most upscale choice, with the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, the 8-inch touchscreen-navigation system, and automatic transmission standard. Choose it if you want the most polished cabin and the richest tech presentation.

The safety package expands from Comfortline upward, so that trim is the key step up if driver assistance matters to you.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $21,754 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,717 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can work against sellers who are hoping for top-dollar returns. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you may need to price competitively to move the car quickly.

At the same time, the Jetta’s strong owner satisfaction and efficient, comfortable character should help keep it appealing to used buyers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian recognition is standard in Canada. From Comfortline, you also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist.

Travel Assist is not a hands-free system, and it may need extra guidance on sweeping highway curves. That means the Jetta’s safety tech is strong, but you should still expect to stay engaged behind the wheel.
