Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 221 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.80% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,459 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $19,480 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,085 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Jetta has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help support demand in the near term. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively to stand out. The good news is that the Jetta’s combination of comfort, efficiency, and upscale feel gives it broad appeal among shoppers looking for practical transportation with a premium edge.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the Highline grade, while the Execline adds automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams.

One caveat is that the Jetta falls short of a Top Safety Pick recommendation because its headlights range from Marginal to Poor depending on the grade.

Should I buy a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It blends an upscale interior, efficient powertrain, and rewarding driving feel.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,680 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,480 CAD average.
• It brings a mild refresh with upgraded technology, more standard features, and a revised powertrain.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better value if you want the Jetta’s core strengths at a lower price, especially with softer used-market pricing. If you’re willing to spend more for a refreshed version with added standard equipment and updated tech, the 2022 is the better upgrade path.
