Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross a good car?

Yes — owners give it 5/5, and the expert rating is 6.7/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the surprising power, excellent ride comfort, spacious interior, and available all-wheel drive for winter driving. That lines up well with the Corolla Cross’s role as a practical compact crossover for everyday use, especially if you want Corolla familiarity in a more upright SUV shape. With 37.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with few major downsides mentioned. The expert drive notes also describe the vehicle as solid and quiet, with a familiar TNGA-platform feel that supports confidence in day-to-day use. Toyota’s standard warranty coverage and roadside assistance add some reassurance for used buyers, but you should still check service history and wear items carefully on any example you consider.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base L models are the most basic, with 17-inch steel wheels, cloth seats, a 7-inch touchscreen, and fewer convenience features than higher trims. LE models add 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen, rear-seat USB ports, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and pushbutton start. XLE models add 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting upgrades, SofTex leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, a JBL audio system, and front and rear park assist with automatic braking.
• Powertrain: Every Corolla Cross uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 169 horsepower and a CVT. The transmission has an actual first gear for better off-the-line response, but the engine can drone at higher speeds and the powertrain can feel strained when you ask for more pace.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and Lane Tracing Assist automated lane centring. LE models add blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while XLE models add front and rear park assist with automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The base L gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while LE and XLE models get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the range, along with Bluetooth and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless charging is part of the LE Premium package and standard on the XLE, but the system is otherwise fairly plain and slow to boot.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada figures are 7.3 L/100 km combined for FWD models and 7.8 L/100 km combined for AWD models.

Which 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross is offered in 3 trim levels: L, LE, and XLE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it is quite sparse. You get the core Corolla Cross shape, standard safety tech, and the smaller touchscreen, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest purchase price and can live without the convenience upgrades found higher up.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, rear-seat USB ports, pushbutton start, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert without jumping all the way to the top model. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• XLE: This is the most fully equipped version, with the larger wheels, SofTex upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, JBL audio, and front and rear park assist with automatic braking. Choose it if you want the most comfort and convenience features.

The LE and XLE also get the extra safety and convenience equipment that helps the Corolla Cross feel more complete, while the base L is the most stripped-down version.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 105 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,992 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross's resale value?

The current average of $27,992 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,319 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially well kept. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside exposure later because the model has already adjusted downward. Strong demand for practical crossovers should still help support values, especially for clean, well-equipped examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross safe?

The Corolla Cross gets a decent amount of standard driver-assist tech under the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 banner, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and Lane Tracing Assist automated lane centring.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

LE models add blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while XLE models add front and rear park assist with automatic braking. Crash-test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS aren’t available yet, so you should focus on the standard safety equipment and trim-level differences when comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings the Corolla Cross formula to market with standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, available AWD, and a straightforward trim walk-up.

The bottom line: If you want the Corolla Cross shape, the 2022 is a sensible used buy when priced well and equipped in LE or XLE form. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully for a clean example with the features you want, because the market still has enough inventory to reward patience.
