Which 2022 Subaru Forester trim should I buy?

The 2022 Subaru Forester is offered in 7 trim levels: base, Convenience, Touring, Sport, Wilderness, Limited, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the Forester’s core strengths at the lowest price. You still get standard AWD, EyeSight 4.0, and the 6.5-inch infotainment system with smartphone mirroring, so it covers the essentials well.
• Convenience: This trim is a sensible step up if you want a little more equipment without moving too far up the price ladder. It should suit you if you want a practical daily driver with a bit more comfort and convenience than the base model.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want the upgraded 8-inch screen and access to available navigation and Harman Kardon audio. It’s the trim to target if infotainment matters to you.
• Sport: Choose this if you want a more distinctive appearance and a slightly more expressive version of the Forester without going all the way to the Wilderness.
• Wilderness: This is the one to buy if you want the most rugged Forester. It adds extra ground clearance, protective cladding, all-terrain tyres, a skid plate, and a full-size spare, making it the clear choice for off-road-minded shoppers.
• Limited: This trim adds DriverFocus, which monitors for drowsiness and distraction, so it makes sense if you want more advanced driver monitoring.
• Premier: This is the top trim if you want the most upscale Forester experience, including DriverFocus and the highest level of comfort and convenience equipment.

On the other hand, the Forester’s practical reputation and strong owner satisfaction help support demand.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new Wilderness trim and upgraded EyeSight 4.0 safety tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,805 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,056 CAD average.
• It gets next-generation EyeSight and an improved standard infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the model still brings strong safety, practicality, and owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year update, the 2023 is worth a look for its refreshed safety and infotainment improvements.
