Is the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek earns a 5/5 user rating, and owners consistently praise its all-wheel drive capability, excellent fuel economy, and strong safety features. It also fits well if you want a practical small crossover with real utility, generous cargo space, and a simple, budget-friendly daily-driver setup. The overall appeal is strongest if you value all-weather confidence and a bit of personality over complexity. With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market choice.

Is the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with buyers also highlighting its strong safety reputation and everyday usability. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used vehicle you can count on for regular commuting and year-round driving.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the Crosstrek’s core reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained consistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Subaru Crosstrek?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep distress pricing.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 234 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,560 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $24,705 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,020 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at a strong price, you may have a better chance of protecting your value later. The Crosstrek’s practical reputation and broad appeal should help it remain easy to move in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $23,116 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,705 CAD average.
• It adds more trim choice and available capability.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the better secondary path because it undercuts the current average while keeping the Crosstrek’s core appeal intact.
