How much does the 2022 Nissan Sentra cost?

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The 2022 Sentra is described as a well-rounded compact sedan that aims to be competent and affordable rather than flashy. It benefits from being part of a newer generation after a significant redesign, so you get a more current feel in a small-sedan package that is meant to serve as an entry point for the brand.

The market also shows 28.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Sentra is presented as a newer-generation compact sedan with few, if any, shortcomings, which supports the case for dependable everyday use. Its expert assessment also describes it as a competent, affordable small car that fits the role of an entry point for the brand, and the powertrain is framed as consistent and satisfactory for commuting, town driving, and road trips.

The five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers. For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about outright weakness and more about whether the Sentra’s modest performance and feature set match your expectations over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim gives you the essentials, including a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 4.2-inch advanced driver’s display, while the SV adds an 8-inch screen, premium cloth, dual-zone automatic climate control, and intelligent cruise control. The SR brings 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, sport cloth seats, and a more aggressive appearance, so it suits you if you want the most style and equipment.
• Powertrain: Every model uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. In Canada, the six-speed manual is standard and the CVT is available, and the setup is described as consistent, satisfactory, and good for commuting and highway use rather than especially exciting.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The available adaptive cruise control and surround-view parking monitor add convenience, but the closest cruise setting still leaves a large gap to the vehicle ahead.
• Infotainment: You get a 7-inch touchscreen on the S and an 8-inch touchscreen on the SV and SR, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is easy to use, but it does not offer wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada-rated fuel consumption is 9.2 L/100 km city, 6.2 highway, and 7.9 combined with the manual transmission, or 8.0 city, 6.0 highway, and 7.1 combined with the CVT. In SR trim, those figures rise slightly to 9.4/6.4/8.1 with the manual and 8.2/6.1/7.3 with the CVT.

Which 2022 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value-focused choice if you want the essentials without paying for extras. You still get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch touchscreen, and the core safety equipment, so it covers the basics well.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen, premium cloth, dual-zone automatic climate control, intelligent cruise control, and more convenience features without jumping to the sportier look of the SR.
• SR: Choose this if you want the most distinctive appearance and the most equipment, including 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, and sport cloth seats with orange accent stitching.

The safety package is strong across the line, with the same core driver-assistance features standard on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 281 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,738 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $18,738 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,349 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Sentra has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you own one, strong condition and desirable equipment will matter more when it comes time to resell. The current price trend also implies that buyers have more leverage now than they did a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra earns a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Available extras include adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking monitor, though the adaptive cruise control can feel overly cautious and abrupt when it brakes.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 benefits from a newer-generation design and strong safety equipment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,312 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $18,738 CAD average.
• It blends style, efficiency, technology, and performance into a smart, well-rounded compact sedan.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing context and a strong safety story, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers the core Sentra strengths.
