There are 110 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.66/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its design, comfort, power, and roomy cabin, which lines up well with its role as a redesigned midsize truck. It also fits shoppers who want a truck that feels more modern than the previous generation while still offering real off-road capability. The market shows 32.7% of listings as good or great deals, which adds to its appeal if you are comparing used examples.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.66/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that many owners find solid, with repeated praise for its design, comfort, power, and upgraded interior. The same feedback also mentions that some drivers see it as a dependable upgrade, even though reliability concerns do come up in comparison with competitors. On the road, the Frontier’s powertrain feels strong and confident, and its transmission is described as eager to shift down when climbing, which supports a sense of mechanical competence.

Nissan also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit that is on the house, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that owner feedback is mixed on reliability, so a careful service-history check matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim is the most basic version, with the standard 8-inch touchscreen and fewer amenities than higher trims. The PRO-4X stands out with charcoal leather seating, a 9-inch screen, and off-road-focused equipment.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.8-litre V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. It is strong for passing and towing, but fuel consumption is not a highlight.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent forward collision warning, lane departure warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, adaptive cruise control, and an easy-fill tire alert. Traffic sign recognition is available on the PRO-4X.
• Infotainment: The lowest-level S and one-step-up SV trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while the PRO-4X gets a 9-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but they require a wired connection; wireless projection is not supported.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 13.7 L/100 km in the city, 10.6 on the highway, and 12.3 combined.

Which 2022 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point and makes the Frontier accessible, but it is the most basic choice. It gets the standard 8-inch touchscreen and the core safety suite, so it suits you if you want the lowest-cost path into the redesigned truck.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the standard tech and safety foundation while stepping up from the base truck without jumping to off-road pricing.
• PRO-4X: This is the one to choose if you want the most capability and the richest equipment. It adds the 9-inch screen, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, off-road hardware, and traffic sign recognition.

Safety Shield 360 is standard across the range, so even the base trim gets a strong safety foundation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 110 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,426 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $38,677 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,757 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Frontier has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher level. The truck’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially among shoppers who value comfort, power, and a more modern cabin.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.66/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier has not been crash-tested yet by either NHTSA or IIHS, so there are no official crash ratings to cite.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent forward collision warning, lane departure warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, adaptive cruise control, and an easy-fill tire alert. Eight airbags also come standard, and traffic sign recognition is available on the PRO-4X grade.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.66/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is the redesigned Frontier with a much more modern cabin and real off-road capability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $41,939 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $38,677 CAD average.
• It adds a few more standard features while keeping the same straightforward character.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it delivers the redesign at a lower average price. If you are willing to pay more for a slightly newer truck with a few extra standard features, the 2023 is the cleaner alternative.
