Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — 4.67/5 is a strong user rating for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It stands out because it keeps the boxy, military-grade character that made the name famous while pairing it with a far more modern luxury-SUV experience underneath. For you, that means you get a vehicle that feels like a status symbol and a serious off-roader at the same time, with a plusher interior, modern infotainment, and a strong mix of driver-assist and safety features. The market also shows 32.3% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is presented as a modernised version of a long-running nameplate, with updated systems, lightweight structural materials, and a more contemporary cabin than its shape suggests. That combination points to a vehicle that has been engineered to feel current while preserving the core G-Class identity. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its premium positioning and complex luxury hardware can make upkeep more demanding than on a mainstream SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 65 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $192,850 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $198,148 CAD sits slightly below last year's $209,818 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper short-term gains if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the G-Class name carries strong desirability, and its distinctive styling helps keep attention on the used market. If you buy well, the combination of brand cachet and limited supply can still support solid future demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the G-Class experience with modern luxury, strong powertrain choices, and a market that has eased a bit, the 2022 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, you should also compare nearby model years and focus on the best-priced examples, especially those near the lower end of the current range.
