Used 2022 Mazda CX-9 for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2022 Mazda CX-9 cost?

Prices have softened 11.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 212 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mazda CX-9 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a refined three-row SUV. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth and comfortable ride, spacious interior, and luxurious features at a good price. The review summary also highlights strong performance and power for commuting, which fits the CX-9’s near-luxury, family-focused positioning.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and unintuitive technology, so it suits you best if you value style, comfort, and an upscale cabin more than maximum space or the simplest infotainment setup. That said, the CX-9’s premium feel and polished road manners make it a strong fit for buyers who want a three-row crossover with a more refined personality.

There are 32.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, so there is still meaningful market choice if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for the CX-9’s smooth, comfortable day-to-day use and its ability to deliver luxury-like features at a good price. The reliability-focused feedback also suggests it is a vehicle many owners feel good about keeping for the long term.

The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the CX-9 as having an excellent reputation for reliability. It also notes that Mazda recommends regular fuel while acknowledging the extra output available on premium fuel, which gives you flexibility in how you manage running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether the vehicle’s technology and packaging still suit your needs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda CX-9?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base CX-9 GS gets the essentials, but higher trims add more convenience and luxury touches. The GT and above bring features such as SiriusXM, navigation, a Bose audio system, an Active Driving Display, front and rear parking sensors, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera, and reverse automatic emergency braking. If you want the most complete safety and comfort package, the upper trims are the ones to focus on.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the same SKYACTIV-G 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Output varies depending on fuel choice, with regular fuel delivering 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, while premium fuel raises output to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: The CX-9 includes Mazda’s standard safety suite with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and more. Some advanced features, including front and rear parking sensors, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera, and reverse automatic emergency braking, are reserved for GT and higher trims.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Mazda Connected Services, and a six-speaker audio system. Wireless device charging appears from the GS-L grade, while GT and higher trims add navigation, SiriusXM, and a Bose 12-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The CX-9’s current rating is described as its one glaring weakness, so fuel economy is worth weighing carefully if you drive a lot.

Which 2022 Mazda CX-9 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda CX-9 is offered in 5 trim levels: GS, GS-L, GT, Kuro Edition, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-9 experience with standard all-wheel drive, the turbocharged engine, the 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Mazda’s standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the CX-9’s style and driving feel at the lowest price.
• GS-L: This trim adds wireless device charging and more second-row USB connectivity, making it a smarter pick if you want a better day-to-day family setup without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a lot of meaningful equipment, including SiriusXM, navigation, the Bose 12-speaker audio system, the Active Driving Display, front and rear parking sensors, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera, and reverse automatic emergency braking.
• Kuro Edition: This trim is part of the five-trim lineup and is best considered if you want a more distinctive appearance and a higher-spec feel than the lower trims.
• Signature: This is the top-end choice if you want the most luxurious CX-9 experience, with the richest presentation and the fullest feature set in the lineup.

The safety package is strongest on GT and higher trims, where you gain the extra parking and driver-monitoring features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mazda CX-9?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and wait for the right listing.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 212 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,128 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $31,242 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,143 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-9 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand among shoppers looking for a premium-feeling three-row SUV at a lower entry point. For a future seller, that means resale value may depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment level rather than just the badge alone.

Because the market has already adjusted downward, well-kept examples with desirable features should remain easier to position than stripped or higher-mileage versions. The strongest trims are likely to hold attention better, especially if they include the more complete safety and convenience equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 safe?

The 2022 Mazda CX-9 received a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the highest-possible rating. It also received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The CX-9 comes standard with Mazda’s safety suite, including a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, hill-launch assist, and child-seat anchors and tether points. Front and rear parking sensors, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera, and reverse automatic emergency braking are included beginning at the GT grade.

That trim-level gap matters if you want the fullest set of parking and monitoring aids, because the base and mid-level trims do not include those extra features.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines a premium cabin, strong safety, and a polished driving feel in a three-row package.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,299 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $31,242 CAD average.
• It was improved by 2021.5 changes and is described as better than ever.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used buy, the 2022 is the better target because it pairs a lower current market price with excellent safety and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the value play, especially if you find one in good condition with the features you want.
