Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mazda CX-30 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, premium-feeling interior, and quiet ride. Many also like the performance and the spacious cabin, which helps it feel more upscale than many small SUVs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda CX-30?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX includes standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, an 8.8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an eight-speaker sound system. The GS adds 18-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear climate vents, and available Luxury Package upgrades such as synthetic leather upholstery and a power moonroof. The GT adds a power liftgate, paddle shifters, full leather upholstery, a head-up display, and adaptive headlights.
• Powertrain: The GX uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 155 horsepower, while the GS and GT use a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 186 horsepower. A turbocharged 2.5-litre engine is also available on the GT and delivers much stronger output.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while higher grades add traffic-sign recognition, front-and-rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking. Available driver-assistance features include forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The CX-30 uses an 8.8-inch screen controlled by a rotary dial, with no touch functionality. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but the system can be distracting to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-litre engine consumes 9.4 L/100 km in the city, 7.7 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.6 L/100 km combined. The 2.5-litre engine uses 9.9 L/100 km city, 7.7 L/100 km highway, and 8.9 L/100 km combined. The turbo engine uses 10.5 L/100 km city, 7.9 L/100 km highway, and 9.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it already gives you standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a strong safety baseline. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-30, but it is the least equipped trim.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear vents, and available Luxury Package upgrades that make the cabin feel more premium.
• GT: This is the most upscale choice, with a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and the option to add the turbocharged engine.

Safety-wise, the CX-30’s standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are helpful, while more advanced driver-assistance features move up the trim ladder.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mazda CX-30?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent value.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 296 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,874 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda CX-30's resale value?

The current average of $24,974 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,065 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-30 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady. For a future seller, the softer market means you may not recover as much as owners did a year ago if you buy at today’s average.

Even so, the CX-30’s premium feel and broad appeal should help it remain attractive to shoppers looking for a small SUV with a more upscale personality. If demand stays healthy, that should support resale value better than a more ordinary competitor.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 safe?

The CX-30 earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing wipers. Available features include forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, front-and-rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking.

Higher trims add more advanced protection and parking aids, while the optional 360-degree camera and adaptive front headlights improve visibility. The main caveat is that many driver-assistance features are not standard in Canada.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines upscale design with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety coverage.

Consider the 2021 if:
