Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mazda CX-30 earns a 4.7/5 from owners and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, premium interior feel, and spacious cabin, and many also like the quiet ride and strong performance. The CX-30’s use-case appeal is strongest if you want a small crossover that feels more upscale and more engaging than many rivals.

Mazda’s warranty coverage includes three years of full vehicle coverage with roadside assistance and five years for the powertrain, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is less about core reliability and more about whether the infotainment and visibility quirks will bother you over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda CX-30?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX comes with standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, an 8.8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an eight-speaker sound system. The GS adds 18-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear climate vents, and available Luxury Package upgrades. The GT adds a power liftgate, paddle shifters, full leather upholstery, a head-up display, and adaptive headlights.
• Powertrain: The GX uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The GS and GT use a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. A turbocharged 2.5-litre is available on the GT and delivers much stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while available features include forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher grades add traffic-sign recognition, front-and-rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking.

• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-litre engine consumes 9.4 L/100 km in the city, 7.7 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.6 L/100 km combined. Which 2022 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core safety basics. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-30 without giving up the model’s main strengths.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear vents, and useful comfort upgrades. If you want the sweet spot between price and everyday equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• GT: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale CX-30 experience, with leather upholstery, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, and a power liftgate. It also unlocks the turbocharged engine, which is the best fit if stronger performance matters to you.

Safety features are strongest as you move up the range, with traffic-sign recognition, parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking appearing on higher grades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mazda CX-30?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough pricing softness to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 318 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.32% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,868 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda CX-30's resale value?

The current average of $25,090 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,670 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-30 has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. A model that has already softened can be easier to position competitively later, especially if it remains desirable for its upscale cabin and driving feel.

Because the CX-30 still has broad appeal among shoppers who want a refined small SUV, resale should remain supported by demand for its premium character. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30 safe?

The CX-30 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The CX-30 comes with standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while available driver-assistance features include forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher grades add traffic-sign recognition, front-and-rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking.

One caveat is that many of the more advanced safety features are not standard in Canada, so you may need to shop carefully if you want the fullest safety package.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines an upscale cabin with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety credentials.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $23,715 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $25,090 CAD average.
• It offers a more premium feel with engaging turbocharged performance.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,569 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $25,090 CAD average.
• It sharpens the upscale design and keeps the engaging driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, refinement, and market availability, the 2022 is the primary path to consider. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look for a lower entry cost.
