CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Kia Telluride
Summary
With 184 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,644 CAD, 24.5% of 2022 Kia Telluride listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Kia Telluride 4.6 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Kia Telluride stands out as a large, three-row SUV that helped elevate Kia’s image with its upscale design, modern cabin, compelling technology, and roomy interior. It was the largest Kia to date when it launched, and its eight-passenger capacity, generous cargo space, and strong value proposition made it especially appealing to buyers looking for a family hauler that felt more premium than its price suggested. Owners also tend to praise its luxurious-feeling features, spaciousness, safety equipment, and smooth ride.
For 2022, Kia had already addressed many of the Telluride’s early issues, and the SUV also gained the new Kia emblems along with some of its most impressive technology being added to lower trim levels. That combination makes this model year a particularly attractive used buy, since it benefits from early refinements without losing the Telluride’s core strengths. The cabin still has some cheaper hard and glossy plastic in the lower portions, and the lane-keeping assist system is noted as irritating, but the overall package remains one of the Telluride’s biggest strengths.
Mechanically, the 2022 Telluride uses a 3.8-litre V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with standard all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission in Canada. It also offers Snow mode, an AWD differential lock setting, and a maximum towing capacity of 2,268 kilograms. Fuel consumption figures have ranged from 11.2 to 11.7 litres per 100 kilometres combined depending on the model year, and the Telluride’s broad equipment list and strong used-market value help explain why it remains such a popular choice.

The vehicle itself is amazing, has lots of hidden features that I’ve never realized I needed. My personal favorite is the captain chairs for the second row with heating and cooling seats for the in-laws. Additionally, if I opened the back, there is a button that drops those seats if I need to, so I don’t have to walk around to each door and drop the seat. I’ve been driving it now for a couple days and it gets excellent gas mileage as well. I get around 400 miles to the 16 gallon tank and that’s in LA traffic. Only reason for the four star review is I have gone over a couple speed bumps or dips in the front axle has an awful groaning noise like the suspensions about to give. But after further review, that is a common issue with this car and definitely you should get it under warranty and replaced or fixed before buying if it has not been done!

KIA offers a lot of standard equipment and a great warranty. It rides like a dream and very quiet and relatively easy to operate. We also test drove a Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot, but preferred the KIA

How much does the 2022 Kia Telluride cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $34,633 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $34,584 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $44,656 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $44,650 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −22.44% |

There are 181 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Kia Telluride a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Kia Telluride earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its value, luxurious-feeling features, and spacious interior, and many also like its safety features and smooth ride. It fits especially well if you want a family-focused three-row SUV that feels more premium than its price suggests. With 26.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Kia Telluride reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable and trouble-free enough to inspire repeat confidence, especially for long-term use. That said, used buyers should still watch for the usual ownership risks tied to wear, maintenance history, and any build-quality concerns noted by some owners.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Telluride?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 181 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 22.44% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $34,584 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Kia Telluride's resale value?
The current average of $34,633 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,650 CAD.
That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price more competitively than owners did a year ago. The current range still shows healthy demand, which can help support resale stability if you keep mileage and condition in check. Strong owner satisfaction can also help maintain interest when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Kia Telluride or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 22.44% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $30,307 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $34,633 CAD average.
- It offers the original formula with broad appeal and strong value.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $41,975 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $34,633 CAD average.
- It adds minor styling updates and new technology.
The bottom line: The 2022 is the sweet spot if you want a well-liked Telluride with strong owner satisfaction and a softer market price than newer examples. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want the newer updates and are willing to pay more, the 2023 is the step-up choice.
