What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and LX+ use the standard grille and 17-inch aluminium wheels, while EX adds 19-inch machined-finish wheels, simulated open-pore wood trim, and SynTex simulated leather. EX trims and up also get the mirrored grid-pattern grille, and SX adds black wheels, textured metal dashboard trim, real leather, and VIP Lounge Seats.
• Powertrain: Every Carnival uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. There is no all-wheel drive or electrified powertrain option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure and keeping assistance, rear parking sensors, a driver monitoring system, and a reversing camera with dynamic parking guidance lines. EX adds front parking sensors, active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning with collision avoidance, active rear cross-traffic warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. EX and up also get Safe Exit Assist.
• Infotainment: LX has an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers. Starting with EX+, you get a 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system with navigation, wireless smartphone charging, UVO Link connected services, and eight speakers. EX+ and SX also add a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Carnival should use 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 10.8 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Carnival is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX+, EX, EX+, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Carnival’s core appeal: the distinctive design, the 8-inch touchscreen, and the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• LX+: This trim is worth considering if you want a little more convenience without jumping too far up the range, especially since wireless smartphone charging is offered here in Canada.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the stronger safety and convenience upgrades, plus nicer exterior and interior touches.
• EX+: Choose this if you want the big technology jump, including the 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system, navigation, and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• SX: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with real leather, black wheels, VIP Lounge Seats, and the most upscale cabin presentation.

Safe Exit Assist is included on EX and up, while the surround-view camera system and Blind View Monitor start with EX+.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent options.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 106 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,405 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $30,829 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,703 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future sellers if they buy at today’s lower average. If demand stays steady, a well-kept Carnival should remain appealing to family buyers who value space, comfort, and technology. The current pricing also means there is less room for dramatic depreciation from today’s level than there was a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends SUV-like styling with VIP-style seating and strong technology.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $33,014 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,829 CAD average.
• It keeps the practical minivan layout while sounding a bit more stylish and value-focused.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want the strongest value and a softer used-market price. If you can spend more and want the next model year’s slightly updated positioning, the 2023 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2022.
