Is the 2022 Kia Carnival a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Carnival earns 4.6/5 from owners and 8.2/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, innovative technology, and comfort, and they also like the unique features that help it stand apart from other vehicles in its class. That lines up well with Kia’s positioning of the Carnival as a stylish multi-purpose vehicle with VIP-style passenger seating and family-friendly practicality.

For you, that means the Carnival makes the most sense if you want a people mover that feels more distinctive than a conventional minivan. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Kia Carnival reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped, which supports the impression that it should be easy to live with over time. The expert drive notes also describe the V6 as smooth, steady, and effortless, with an automatic transmission that operates unobtrusively.

Kia also frames the Carnival as a cost-effective family hauler, especially if you do not need all-wheel drive, a more efficient electrified drivetrain, or heavier towing capability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the Carnival’s size, layout, and van-like shape fit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and LX+ use the standard grille and 17-inch aluminium wheels, while EX adds more upscale exterior and interior touches such as 19-inch machined-finish wheels, simulated open-pore wood trim, and SynTex simulated leather. EX trims and up also get the mirrored grid-pattern grille, and SX adds black wheels, textured metal dashboard trim, real leather, and VIP Lounge Seats.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. There is no all-wheel drive or electrified powertrain option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure and keeping assistance, rear parking sensors, a driver monitoring system, and a reversing camera with dynamic parking guidance lines. EX adds front parking sensors, active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning with collision avoidance, active rear cross-traffic warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. EX+ adds navigation-based adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and Blind View Monitor.
• Infotainment: LX gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers. EX+ brings a 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system with navigation, wireless smartphone charging, UVO Link connected services, and eight speakers. EX+ and SX also add a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Carnival should use 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test loop returned 10.8 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Carnival is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX+, EX, EX+, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it still gives you the Carnival’s core appeal: the distinctive styling, the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the standard safety suite. It suits you if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• LX+: This trim keeps the same basic formula but adds wireless smartphone charging in Canada, making it a sensible step up if you want a little more convenience without moving too far up the range.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale look and feel, plus meaningful safety upgrades such as front parking sensors, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.
• EX+: Choose this if you want the big technology jump, including the 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system, navigation, surround-view camera system, Blind View Monitor, and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• SX: This is the most luxurious version, with real leather, VIP Lounge Seats, black wheels, and the 12-speaker Bose audio system. It suits you if you want the Carnival at its most premium.

Safe Exit Assist is included on EX and up, while the surround-view camera system and Blind View Monitor start with EX+.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 119 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.00% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,210 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $30,469 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,845 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. The current range still shows that well-kept examples can hold meaningful value, especially when they are equipped and presented well.

For you as an owner, the softer pricing trend can work both ways: it improves your buying opportunity now, but it may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. Strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially for a vehicle that offers space, comfort, and distinctive styling.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Kia’s MPV approach gives you SUV-like styling with VIP-style seating and strong family practicality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $33,573 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,469 CAD average.
• It keeps the stylish minivan formula while adding a clearer everyday-usefulness focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and owner satisfaction is strong. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the alternative to compare.
