Is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The roomy interior also comes through as a recurring strength, and the sporty handling adds to its appeal if you want something with more personality than a typical midsize SUV. In use, it fits best as a road-focused crossover with everyday practicality rather than a rugged utility vehicle.

With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for the Blazer’s long-term appeal, strong engine options, and comfortable ride. The expert assessment reinforces that it is a competent, agreeable SUV that should be easy to live with day to day. Chevy’s standard maintenance coverage also helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the Blazer’s style and equipment justify the price you pay.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Blazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT is the entry point and comes with the turbocharged four-cylinder and FWD or available AWD, while the higher grades add the V6 and AWD. The RS stands out with its more sophisticated twin-clutch AWD system, and the Premier gets revised exterior details and standard wheel changes. If you want the best-value blend of equipment and personality, the mid-to-upper trims are the ones to compare most closely.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or a 3.6-litre V6 with 308 hp and 270 lb-ft. The V6 is the stronger choice for acceleration and towing, and it can tow up to 2,040 kilograms.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision alert, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Rear-seat reminder and Teen Driver are also standard, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced automatic emergency braking are available.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch touchscreen with simple physical controls beneath it. The layout is easy to use, and the system is designed to be approachable rather than flashy.
• Fuel efficiency: According to official Natural Resources Canada fuel consumption ratings, the Blazer RS AWD should have burned 11.0 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. In testing, it averaged 11.5 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LT, True North, Premier, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the starting point, and it gives you the turbocharged four-cylinder plus the choice of FWD or AWD. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable with the base setup.
• True North: This trim sits above the LT and is a better fit if you want a more upscale step without jumping straight to the top end.
• Premier: This trim adds revised exterior details and standard wheel changes, making it a stronger pick if you want a more polished look.
• RS: This is the most distinctive choice, with the V6 and the more sophisticated twin-clutch AWD system. It is the one to choose if you want the strongest performance character and the sportiest feel.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every trim, so you do not need to move up the lineup just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Blazer?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but not so much that bargains are guaranteed.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 103 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.55% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,229 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?

The current average of $28,780 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,910 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you buy now, you may be entering at a softer point in the cycle, which can help limit near-term depreciation pressure. The Blazer’s distinctive styling and strong owner satisfaction should still support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer safe?

The Blazer does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS because its headlights do not provide high-ranking illumination.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every 2022 Blazer, and it includes forward-collision alert, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Rear-seat reminder and Teen Driver are also standard, while adaptive cruise control with enhanced automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and the vibrating Safety Alert Seat are available. The main caveat is that the available LED headlights do not appear to help enough to improve the IIHS result.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances Camaro-inspired style with practical seating for five and up to 1,818 litres of cargo.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,540 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $28,780 CAD average.
• It is a rarer, style-first choice with a premium feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,366 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $28,780 CAD average.
• It adds a new 10-inch touchscreen and available wireless charging across the lineup.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better all-around pick if you want the current-year Blazer at a softer price point and with strong owner approval. If you are shopping strictly on price, the 2021 is the more affordable route, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the newer tech upgrades and are willing to pay more.
