What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Blazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT starts with the turbocharged four-cylinder and FWD or available AWD, while higher grades add the V6 and AWD. The RS stands out with a more sophisticated twin-clutch AWD system, and the Premier gets revised exterior details and redesigned standard wheels.
• Powertrain: You can shop a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or a 3.6-litre V6 with 308 hp and 270 lb-ft. The V6 can tow up to 2,040 kilograms and is the stronger choice if you want more passing power or towing ability.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision alert, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control with enhanced automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and the vibrating Safety Alert Seat.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch touchscreen with simple physical controls beneath it. The layout is easy to use, but you should check whether the features you want are present on the specific trim you are considering.
• Fuel efficiency: Official Natural Resources Canada fuel consumption is listed at 11.0 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving for the RS AWD test vehicle, and testing returned 11.5 L/100 km in mixed use.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LT, True North, Premier, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the standard turbocharged four-cylinder plus the core Blazer formula. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and are comfortable with the base setup.
• True North: This trim sits above the LT and is a better fit if you want a step up in equipment without jumping straight to the top end. It should appeal to shoppers who want a more rounded daily driver.
• Premier: This trim adds a more upscale look, including revised bumper and bodyside trim and redesigned standard wheels. It suits you if appearance and a more polished feel matter most.
• RS: This is the best-value choice if you want the strongest personality, since it pairs the V6 with the more sophisticated twin-clutch AWD system and the sportiest presentation. It is the trim to target if you want the Blazer at its most distinctive.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, so you get the core driver-assistance suite on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Blazer?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping more than impulse buying.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 109 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,229 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?

The current average of $28,680 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,020 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Blazer has moved into a more buyer-friendly position, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you pay close to the current average, you may have less room to absorb depreciation later. On the other hand, a well-bought example near the low end of the range should be easier to resell than one purchased at the top of the market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS because its headlights do not provide high-ranking illumination.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and it includes forward-collision alert, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The Blazer also includes a rear-seat reminder and Teen Driver technology as standard equipment.

Available safety upgrades include adaptive cruise control with enhanced automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and the Safety Alert Seat. The expert assessment also notes that the available driver-assistance systems work exceptionally well and are not annoying to use.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers Camaro-inspired styling with practical five-seat packaging and up to 1,818 litres of cargo space.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,686 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $28,680 CAD average.
• It is a rarer, style-first crossover with a premium feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,166 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $28,680 CAD average.
• It adds a new 10-inch touchscreen and available wireless charging for all trims.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the right pick if you want the current-year Blazer at a softer price and with strong owner satisfaction. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want newer tech, the 2023 is worth the extra spend.
