Is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and powerful engine options. The roomy interior also comes through as a recurring strength, and the Blazer’s sporty handling gives it a more distinctive feel than many mainstream crossovers.

That lines up with its use-case: you’re getting a five-seat midsize SUV that prioritises on-road manners and everyday practicality over maximum versatility. With 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for the Blazer’s comfortable ride and strong powertrain choices. The expert road test also suggests it feels composed in normal driving, which supports the impression that it’s easy to live with over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Blazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT is the entry point and comes with the standard turbocharged four-cylinder, while higher grades add a standard V6 and AWD. The RS stands out with a more sophisticated twin-clutch AWD system, and the Premier gets revised bumper and bodyside trim plus redesigned standard wheels.
• Powertrain: You can shop the standard 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 228 horsepower, or move up to the 3.6-litre V6 with 308 hp. The V6 brings stronger acceleration and can tow up to 2,040 kilograms.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision alert, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Rear-seat reminder and Teen Driver are also standard, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch touchscreen display with simple physical controls beneath it. The layout is easy to use, and the system is paired with straightforward climate controls.
• Fuel efficiency: According to official Natural Resources Canada fuel consumption ratings, the Blazer RS AWD should’ve burned 11.0 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. In testing, it averaged 11.5 L/100 km on the loop while using FWD mode.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LT, True North, Premier, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the standard turbocharged four-cylinder plus the core Blazer experience. If you want the least expensive path into the model, this is the trim to target.
• True North: This trim sits above the LT and is the next step if you want a more equipped version without jumping straight to the top end.
• Premier: This trim adds revised exterior details and redesigned standard wheels, making it the better pick if you want a more polished look.
• RS: This is the most distinctive choice, with the more sophisticated twin-clutch AWD system and the sportiest presentation. It suits you best if styling and a more performance-flavoured feel matter most.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every trim, so you don’t need to move up the lineup to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Blazer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 112 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.27% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,231 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?

The current average of $29,028 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,994 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests the Blazer may be a little easier to buy than it was a year ago, but it also means sellers may need to be realistic when setting an asking price. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current market points to steady but not especially strong appreciation potential.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer doesn’t earn a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS because its headlights don’t provide high-ranking illumination.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and it includes forward-collision alert, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Rear-seat reminder and Teen Driver are also standard, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with enhanced automatic emergency braking are available.

The main caveat is that the available LED headlights still don’t help enough to secure a stronger IIHS result.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines Camaro-inspired styling with practical five-seat packaging and up to 1,818 litres of cargo space.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,810 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,028 CAD average.
• It’s a rarer, style-first crossover with a sportier personality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,372 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,028 CAD average.
• It adds a new 10-inch touchscreen and available wireless charging.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing and broad availability, the 2022 is the sensible pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want newer tech, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
