How much does the 2022 BMW 2 Series cost?

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 2 Series earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

It brings a refreshed look, larger proportions, increased power, and a stronger performance focus than its size might suggest. At the same time, the driving experience is described as promising but ultimately held back by a disconnected feel, so it suits you best if you want a compact luxury car with style and pace more than pure driver engagement.

With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is positioned as a starter BMW, but it still brings a performance-tuned setup and a well-equipped cabin. Its turbocharged powertrain, standard AWD on the Canadian coupe, and broad standard equipment suggest a car built to deliver strong everyday capability.

The trade-off is that it is still a complex, premium performance car, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history, option content, and overall condition to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe is offered only in M240i xDrive Coupe form, while the four-door 2 Series Gran Coupe is sold separately in M235i xDrive version. The coupe’s standard equipment includes a performance-oriented exterior, 19-inch M light alloys, M Sport brakes, and a driver-focused cabin, but the interior also shows some cost-cutting plastics in places.
• Powertrain: The M240i xDrive Coupe uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six with 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed Sport automatic transmission. It is quick and grunty, with xDrive adding stability, especially when cornering.
• Safety package: BMW’s driving assistance suite includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, speed limit information, a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control. Adaptive front LED headlights, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and BMW Drive Recorder are available.
• Infotainment: You get a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 5.1-inch driver information display, over-the-air updates, iDrive 7, cloud-based navigation, real-time traffic updates, connected services, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB ports. A 12.3-inch fully digital display is available.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2022 BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: M240i xDrive Coupe and M235i xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• M235i xDrive: This is the four-door Gran Coupe version mentioned in the Canadian market, so it is the one to consider if you want the 2 Series nameplate in a more practical body style.
• M240i xDrive Coupe: This is the main Canadian coupe and the better fit if you want the strongest performance focus, the standard performance hardware, and the most distinctive styling. It is the best-value choice if your priority is the coupe experience and you want the full set of standard performance and technology features.

BMW’s safety suite is standard on the 2 Series Coupe, while additional items such as adaptive front LED headlights and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go are available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 52 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,665 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 2 Series's resale value?

The current average of $38,675 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,502 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the car more attractive to used buyers today but less favourable for sellers trying to maximise return. If you buy now, you may benefit from the softer pricing, but future resale will depend on how well the market absorbs compact luxury coupes with a performance focus.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 2 Series has not yet been rated by either the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s standard safety suite includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, speed limit information, a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control. You can also look for adaptive front LED headlights, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and BMW Drive Recorder on equipped examples.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 2 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It was redesigned for 2022 with a refreshed look, larger proportions, increased power, and more performance than is reasonable for a subcompact.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the 2 Series with the strongest performance focus and the broadest standard equipment, the 2022 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, the softer market and decent deal share make it worth shopping carefully for a well-equipped example rather than stretching for a newer one.

How does the 2022 BMW 2 Series compare to the 2022 Audi A3?

Our experts score the 2022 BMW 2 Series 6.8/10 and the 2022 Audi A3 8.8/10. The BMW leans harder into performance and standard equipment, while the Audi comes in with a lower average used price and stronger overall expert score. If you want the more affordable choice, the A3 has the edge; if you want the more powerful and more performance-focused option, the 2 Series is the one to look at.
