What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura RDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the most stripped-back version, while higher trims add more luxury and convenience equipment. The lineup also includes Technology, A-Spec, A-Spec Platinum Elite, and PMC Edition, so you should compare feature content carefully before deciding.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 RDX uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Acura’s torque-vectoring SH-AWD system is standard in Canada, and the SUV is tuned for a smooth, responsive drive rather than outright performance.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 10.2-inch display with a touchpad controller, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Alexa Built-in is included, and starting with the Technology package, you get navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: In testing, the RDX averaged 11.4 L/100 km, and Acura cites a Natural Resources Canada rating of 10.3 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: base model, Technology, A-Spec, A-Spec Platinum Elite, and PMC Edition.

Here's the short version:

• base model: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core RDX experience with the standard turbo engine, SH-AWD, AcuraWatch, and the 10.2-inch infotainment display. It makes sense if you want the RDX’s fundamentals without stretching your budget.
• Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation and a 12-speaker ELS Studio audio system. If you want a more complete luxury experience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to focus on.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a more expressive personality. It builds on the RDX’s already polished character while adding more visual flair.
• A-Spec Platinum Elite: This is the most fully equipped mainstream trim, and it adds the adaptive-damping suspension, a 10.5-inch head-up display, and the most upscale feel in the regular lineup. It suits you best if comfort and premium features matter most.
• PMC Edition: This limited-production version sits at the top of the range and is the most exclusive choice. It is for you if rarity and special appearance details matter more than value.

With the Technology package and higher, the RDX adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura RDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 159 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,604 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $37,604 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,389 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside for a future seller. If you own one for a few years, the current softness means resale values may not rebound quickly unless demand strengthens. On the other hand, a well-kept RDX with the right trim and equipment should still attract interest because it offers a strong mix of comfort, quality, and luxury appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura RDX safe?

The 2022 Acura RDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. New for 2022, Acura also adds a rear seatbelt reminder system. With the Technology package and higher, you get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the lane-keeping and lane-centring systems can issue false warnings and unnecessary steering corrections in some conditions.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a quieter cabin, fresh styling, and refined ride and handling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $33,012 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $37,604 CAD average.
• It offers a modern design and a practical, well-rounded luxury feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $42,112 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $37,604 CAD average.
• It keeps the strong comfort and performance while remaining a bargain versus newer rivals.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of updated refinement and current-market value, the 2022 is the sweet spot. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2021 is the better budget play; if you want to spend more for a newer-year alternative, the 2023 is the natural step up.
