Used 2021 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearLongueuil, QC

How much does the 2021 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 13.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 107 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2021 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Volvo XC90 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

It’s a three-row luxury SUV that leans hard into Volvo’s safety-first identity while still feeling premium and distinctive. The 2021 updates are modest, but you still get a refined cabin, a quiet ride, and a family-friendly layout that fits the midsize luxury SUV brief well.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 40.2% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The XC90’s safety-first engineering and broad standard equipment list support its reputation as a dependable luxury SUV. Its powertrains are built around a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, and the model’s overall design focuses on comfort and stability rather than complexity for its own sake.

The plug-in hybrid adds more moving parts and depends on regular charging to deliver its best efficiency, so used buyers should pay close attention to battery-related use and service history. For long-term ownership, the safest bet is a well-maintained example with complete records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Volvo XC90?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Momentum is the base model and doesn’t get the extra visual flair of the higher trims, while the R-Design adds a sportier look and the Inscription brings the flashiest presentation. If you want the best value, the midlevel R-Design is the one to focus on.
• Powertrain: The XC90 comes with T5, T6, and T8 powertrains. The T5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder, the T6 adds supercharging, and the T8 plug-in hybrid adds electric assist for the highest output.
• Safety package: The XC90 includes lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. The plug-in hybrid is not covered by the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ result.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, and Bluetooth. Wireless charging was added for 2021, but it may not fit most phones.
• Fuel efficiency: The base T5 AWD is rated at 10.1 L/100 km combined, the T6 AWD at 10.5 L/100 km combined, and the T8 Recharge can use as little as 8.8 L/100 km combined in hybrid mode, with an efficiency rating of 4.0 Le/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3 trim levels: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription.

Here's the short version:

• Momentum: This is the entry point, and it gives you the XC90’s core safety-first luxury experience without the extra visual upgrades of the pricier trims.
• R-Design: This is the best-value trim if you want a more distinctive look, thanks to its sportier styling cues and gloss-black grille surround.
• Inscription: Choose this if you want the most upscale presentation, with extra chrome trim and the flashiest appearance in the lineup.

The XC90’s safety package is strong across the range, but the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ result applies only to non-hybrid models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Volvo XC90?

It’s a buyer-friendly market for the 2021 XC90, especially if you’re comparing listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 40.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 107 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,455 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $35,303 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,032 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. The current year-round range suggests there is still room for prices to move around depending on trim, condition, and equipment. If you plan to sell later, a well-kept example with desirable features should hold up better than a bare-bones or poorly documented one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Volvo XC90 safe?

The 2021 XC90 received the highest “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but that only applies to non-hybrid models, as the IIHS hasn’t updated its ratings for the XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid. The non-hybrid XC90 models received top “Good” scores in all IIHS crash tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave all 2021 XC90 models a five-star overall safety rating, with five stars in frontal and side crash tests, and four stars in rollover testing.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The XC90 comes with lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. The main caveat is that the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ result does not apply to the plug-in hybrid.

Should I buy a 2021 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 40.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: the 2021 model adds newly standard tech features and keeps Volvo’s strong safety focus.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $41,400 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $35,303 CAD average.
• It adds an available plug-in hybrid variant with fuel economy as low as 3.4 litres-equivalent per 100 kilometres.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and deal availability is solid. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year update and want the next-year efficiency story, the 2022 is worth a look.
