Is the 2021 RAM 1500 a good car?

You get a truck that owners repeatedly praise for its refined driving experience, smooth ride, high-quality interior, and strong technology. That lines up with the overview’s focus on a full-size pickup that blends capability with comfort, while the TRX trim adds a clear performance edge for buyers who want something more aggressive than everyday utility.

With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they praise its refined driving experience, smooth ride, and high-quality interior. The same feedback also highlights powerful engine performance and advanced technology, which supports the impression that this is a truck people can count on for both daily use and heavier-duty needs.

The main ownership risk for used buyers is that some trucks may show the same complaints owners mention, so you should pay close attention to condition and equipment history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 RAM 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from work-focused versions to the TRX, and the biggest feature gaps show up at the lower end, where you may miss some of the premium cabin and technology touches found higher up.
• Powertrain: The standout engine is the 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 in the TRX, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and tuned for extreme performance rather than efficiency.
• Safety package: The Advanced Safety Group adds a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and pedestrian detection with emergency braking. Some of these features are not standard.
• Infotainment: Higher trims get a 12-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 4C, navigation, wireless charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and over-the-air-style convenience through a highly customisable interface.
• Fuel efficiency: The TRX is rated at 22.4 L/100 km in the city, 16.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 19.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2021 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Tradesman, TRX, and the other trims described in the model’s equipment breakdown.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the entry point if you want the lowest starting price and a straightforward work truck. It makes the most sense if you care more about utility than luxury or performance.
• TRX: This is the clear choice if you want the most extreme version of the truck, with the supercharged V8, serious off-road hardware, and the most distinctive personality in the lineup. It is the best fit if performance is your priority.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that some advanced driver-assistance features are bundled into optional groups rather than included on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and enough price movement to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,086 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.03% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,476 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $32,476 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,917 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the truck easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you own one, strong condition and desirable equipment will matter more when it comes time to resell. Trucks with standout trims and well-kept interiors should hold buyer interest better than plain examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is built to withstand tough use, and Ram says it will launch with more than 100 safety and security features, including forward collision warning.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Advanced Safety Group adds a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and pedestrian detection with emergency braking. A digital rear-view mirror and brake-activated centre high-mount stop lamp are part of the Technology Group, while other available features include adaptive headlights, hill-start assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, trailer sway control, lane-departure warning, and front and rear park assistance with automatic braking.

Some of those features cost extra, so you should check carefully which safety equipment is included on the truck you are considering.

Should I buy a 2021 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its new TRX trim and high-performance focus.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $31,144 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,476 CAD average.
• It brings back diesel power across the lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,094 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $32,476 CAD average.
• It leans harder into comfort, technology, and overall polish.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive version of this truck, the 2021 is the one to target. If price matters most, the 2020 is the better value play, while the 2022 makes sense if you want to spend more for a more polished-feeling truck.
