What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level GLC 300 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, dual USB ports, a fully digital instrument panel, and the MBUX infotainment system. If you want more convenience and tech, the Premium Package adds navigation with live traffic updates, augmented video for turn-by-turn navigation, a 10.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, traffic sign assist, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic sunroof, while the Premium Plus Package adds illuminated door sills, a 360-degree camera, a kick-activated power tailgate, and ambient lighting with 64 colours.

It is described as generally responsive, with only occasional lag from the inline-four when pulling away from a stop. If you want more power, the AMG GLC 43 and AMG GLC 63 S step up substantially, but they also bring higher fuel consumption.

• Safety package: To get the GLC’s best safety tech, Canadians need the Intelligent Drive Package, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, dynamic cruise control, and lane departure warning. Parking sensors and hands-free parking assist are part of the Premium Plus Package, so you should check whether a used example has the safety equipment you want.

• Infotainment: The Premium Package brings the Mercedes-Benz User Experience with a 10.25-inch centre touchscreen, centre console touch controller, and advanced voice control that can understand complex commands. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the system is designed to be more intuitive than the older COMAND setup.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is offered in 3 trim levels: GLC 300, AMG GLC 43, AMG GLC 63 S.

Here's the short version:

• GLC 300: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it delivers the core GLC experience: a refined ride, strong standard equipment, and the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. If you want the GLC’s comfort, style, and technology without chasing performance upgrades, this is the trim to target.

• AMG GLC 43: Choose this if you want a more potent powertrain and a sportier setup, including 20-inch wheels and adaptive air suspension. It suits you best if performance matters more than keeping running costs down.

• AMG GLC 63 S: This is the top performance choice, adding the same AMG upgrades plus the extra Premium Rear Seat Package with heated rear outboard seats, three-zone automatic climate control, and rear side window sunshades. It is the right pick if you want maximum power and the most feature-rich version.

For safety equipment, remember that the Intelligent Drive Package is required to get the GLC’s best driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare examples.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 349 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,176 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?

The current average of $34,176 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,481 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can work in your favour if you are buying now but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. A softer used-price environment usually means future sellers need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out. Well-equipped examples with desirable packages should still hold attention better than stripped-down ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

To equip the GLC with its best safety tech, such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, dynamic cruise control, and lane departure warning, Canadians need to purchase the Intelligent Drive Package. Parking sensors and hands-free parking assist are part of the Premium Plus Package.

We found the parking and proximity sensors to be overly sensitive, which is worth checking during a test drive if you plan to use the vehicle in tight urban spaces.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its upscale cabin, strong technology, and balanced driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the most polished mix of comfort, style, and technology in this generation, the 2021 is a strong choice. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry price, but the 2021 remains especially appealing when you find a well-equipped example at the right price.
