What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level GLC 300 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, dual USB ports, a fully digital instrument panel, and the MBUX infotainment system. Higher trims add more performance hardware and comfort features, so the base model is the one to scrutinize most closely if you want the essentials without stretching the budget.
• Powertrain: The GLC 300 uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It is described as responsive and balanced, with some low-speed lag but strong overall refinement. AMG versions add much more power if you want a sharper performance focus.
• Safety package: To get the GLC’s best safety tech, you need the Intelligent Drive Package, which adds automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, dynamic cruise control, and lane departure warning. Parking sensors and hands-free parking assist are part of the Premium Plus Package.
• Infotainment: The Premium Package brings MBUX with a 10.25-inch centre touchscreen, a centre console touch controller, and advanced voice control. It also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is intuitive once you learn it, but there is a learning curve.
• Fuel efficiency: The base GLC 300 returns 11.3 L/100 km in the city, 8.5 on the highway, and 10.0 combined. In mixed driving, the test vehicle averaged 10.0 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is offered in 4 trim levels: GLC 300, GLC 300 Coupe, AMG GLC 43, AMG GLC 43 Coupe.

Here's the short version:

• GLC 300: This is the best-value starting point if you want the core GLC experience: a refined turbocharged four-cylinder, 4MATIC all-wheel drive, a comfortable ride, and the upscale cabin that makes the model appealing in the first place. It gives you the essentials without jumping into the much pricier performance trims.
• GLC 300 Coupe: Choose this if you care more about style than space. It has the same basic appeal as the standard GLC 300, but the coupe body style trades some usability for a sleeker look.
• AMG GLC 43: This is the pick if you want a more potent powertrain and a sportier setup. It adds 20-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, and sport seats, making it the right choice for buyers who want more performance character.
• AMG GLC 43 Coupe: This is for shoppers who want the AMG 43’s added performance with the coupe body style’s more dramatic appearance.

For safety equipment, remember that the most advanced driver-assistance features are tied to the Intelligent Drive Package, while parking sensors and hands-free parking assist come with the Premium Plus Package.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 347 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,470 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?

The current average of $34,770 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,880 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the GLC has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less ideal if you are planning to sell soon. For a future seller, the current market means you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if your vehicle lacks desirable packages or has higher mileage.

The good news is that the GLC’s premium image, strong comfort appeal, and broad shopper interest can help support demand when it is time to move on. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC’s best safety tech includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, dynamic cruise control, and lane departure warning, though Canadians need the Intelligent Drive Package to get it.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Parking sensors and hands-free parking assist are part of the Premium Plus Package, so you will want to confirm whether a used example has the right option content if those features matter to you. The parking and proximity sensors can also be overly sensitive in some situations, which is worth checking during a test drive.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?

The bottom line: If you want the GLC’s well-rounded luxury feel and you can find one with the right packages, the 2021 model is a strong choice. Price-sensitive buyers should focus on well-equipped examples near the lower end of the market range, while shoppers who want the newest-feeling features may want to compare nearby years before deciding.
