What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mazda CX-30?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT trim adds black or white leather, a frameless rearview mirror, SiriusXM satellite radio, a navigation system, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and an Active Driving Display. Lower grades miss some of those premium touches, so you should decide whether the extra comfort and convenience are worth paying for.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged Skyactiv 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and i-Activ all-wheel drive. It delivers strong acceleration and a more satisfying driving feel, but it also uses more fuel than a standard small SUV.
• Safety package: Every CX-30 Turbo includes a full collection of safety features and advanced driver-assistance systems. The GT trim adds adaptive front lighting, front and rear parking sensors, and rear automatic emergency braking, while the model does not include high-speed lane-centring assistance.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8.8-inch display that is not a touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the GT trim adds more premium tech such as navigation and the Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The CX-30 Turbo is rated at 9.3 L/100 km in combined driving, and the road test average was 9.6 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

If you want the CX-30’s upscale personality at its fullest, this is the one to target.

The GT trim also adds the extra safety and convenience features noted above, so it is the best-value path if you want the most complete CX-30 experience.

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right example.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,898 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

The current average of $24,163 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,573 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less favourable if you are planning to sell soon. A softer trend usually means future sellers may need to price more competitively to attract attention. Even so, the CX-30’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially for well-equipped examples in good condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its premium feel, strong turbocharged performance, and top-tier safety.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,931 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $24,163 CAD average.
• It adds a more spacious cabin and an even more upscale interior.

The bottom line: If you want the better-value buy, the 2021 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a premium driving feel. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year and a slightly roomier cabin, the 2022 is the better secondary path.
