What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mazda CX-30?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT trim adds black leather or white leather, a navigation system, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and an Active Driving Display. The lower grades are simpler, so you should check whether the features you want are standard or reserved for GT.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged Skyactiv 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine delivers strong acceleration, with output that varies depending on fuel octane. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and i-Activ all-wheel drive, while lower grades use front-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Mazda equips every CX-30 Turbo with a full collection of safety features and advanced driver-assistance systems. The GT trim adds adaptive front lighting, front and rear parking sensors, and rear automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8.8-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mazda Connect. It is not a touchscreen, so you should make sure you are comfortable with the controller-based interface.
• Fuel efficiency: The CX-30 Turbo is rated at 9.3 L/100 km in combined driving, and the road test average was 9.6 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Mazda CX-30 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 is offered in 1 trim level: GT.

Here's the short version:

The GT is the one to focus on because it is the trim where the turbocharged engine becomes available, along with the richer cabin materials and the most complete equipment list. It adds black or white leather, a Bose premium audio system, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an Active Driving Display, so it suits you best if you want the most upscale version of the CX-30 experience.

The GT also adds useful safety equipment, including adaptive front lighting, front and rear parking sensors, and rear automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mazda CX-30?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and act when you find a strong example.

• Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 169 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.82% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,953 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

The current average of $24,912 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,902 CAD.

That softer pricing trend can work in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If the market continues to normalise, resale values should remain supported by the CX-30’s strong reputation for style, quality, and driving enjoyment. The model’s premium feel and high owner satisfaction should help keep demand steady over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

One caveat is that there is no high-speed lane-centring assistance function.

Should I buy a 2021 Mazda CX-30 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends premium design, strong safety, and turbocharged performance without chasing hardcore performance.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,997 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $24,912 CAD average.
• It keeps the upscale cabin and adds a more spacious-feeling, refined small-SUV package.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, satisfaction, and premium character, the 2021 is the smarter buy. If you are willing to pay a bit more for a newer model year and want the next step in refinement, the 2022 is worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2021 remains the more compelling path.
