Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the only trim offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive in Canada, while the EX, EX Premium, and SX Turbo all include standard AWD. The LX is the most basic version, with 16-inch steel wheels, manually adjustable heated front seats, remote keyless entry, power windows, and an 8-inch touchscreen; the EX adds 17-inch machine-finish alloy wheels, a sunroof, automatic climate control, and leatherette upholstery.

The SX Turbo upgrades to a turbocharged and intercooled 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and standard AWD.
• Safety package: The LX includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a feature that can detect if it is safe to exit the vehicle when parallel parking on the street. All trims but the base LX include collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. The EX Premium and SX Turbo add adaptive cruise control with idle stop-and-go.
• Infotainment: The LX and EX get an 8-inch touchscreen and a 3.5-inch TFT digital instrument display. The EX Premium and SX Turbo upgrade to a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital display, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto shown on the larger screen; the SX Turbo also adds a Bose premium sound system.

Which 2021 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2021 Kia Seltos is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX Premium, and SX Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value pick if you want the lowest entry price and still want useful standard equipment, including heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, and key safety tech such as blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It is also the only trim offered with both FWD and AWD in Canada.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a sunroof, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, and alloy wheels without jumping to the highest price point.
• EX Premium: Choose this if you want the bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen, the 7-inch digital display, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, LED headlights and fog lamps, and ambient lighting.
• SX Turbo: This is the performance and feature leader, with the turbocharged engine, standard AWD, 18-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded audio system, and additional driver-assistance features.

The safety package starts with the LX’s blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while the fuller driver-assistance suite begins on the other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Seltos?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 300 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.78% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,295 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $19,341 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,432 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if market conditions stay similar. The current year-round range suggests there is still meaningful demand, yet the year-over-year decline shows buyers have more negotiating room than they did a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Kia Seltos safe?

The Seltos earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, including four-star ratings for frontal crash and rollover performance and five-star ratings for side impacts.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and child-seat anchor latches for the rear seats. In Canada, the LX also gets blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a feature that can detect if it is safe to exit the vehicle when parallel parking on the street. All trims but the base LX add collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist, while the EX Premium and SX Turbo add adaptive cruise control with idle stop-and-go.

The main caveat is that some trims lose points for headlight performance and LATCH ease of use, so it is worth checking the exact equipment on the vehicle you are considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a high-quality cabin, refined driving dynamics, and strong standard safety tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,206 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,341 CAD average.
• It adds a practical mix of space, easy-to-use technology, and a strong warranty.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2021 is the smarter starting point because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction and a well-equipped feature set. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the better path for buyers who prioritise a slightly fresher alternative and are less focused on upfront cost.
