How much does the 2021 Kia Seltos cost?

Is the 2021 Kia Seltos a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Kia Seltos earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its value, great looks, comfortable handling, and generous standard equipment. That lines up with the Seltos’ role as a practical subcompact SUV that aims to feel more substantial than many rivals, while still giving you useful cabin and cargo space. You also get a strong mix of everyday usability and modern tech, which makes it appealing if you want a well-rounded small SUV rather than a sporty one.

The market also shows 27.1% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Kia Seltos reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with strong value and confidence in the vehicle over time. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing the Seltos as a well-rounded SUV that punches above its weight in driveability, cabin quality, space, and utility. Kia’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps lower early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is not outright reliability so much as whether the example you choose has the equipment and powertrain you want for the way you’ll use it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Seltos?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the only trim offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive in Canada, while the higher trims standardize AWD. The LX gives you the basics, including heated front seats, remote keyless entry, power windows, and an 8-inch touchscreen, but the EX adds alloy wheels, a sunroof, automatic climate control, and leatherette upholstery. The EX Premium brings a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, LED headlights and fog lamps, and ambient lighting.
• Powertrain: The LX, EX, and EX Premium use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. It is adequate around town, but it can feel short on power at highway speeds. The SX Turbo upgrades to a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and standard AWD.
• Safety package: The base LX includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a feature that helps detect whether it is safe to exit the vehicle when parallel parking. All trims but the base LX include collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. The EX Premium and SX Turbo add adaptive cruise control with idle stop-and-go.
• Infotainment: The LX and EX use an 8-inch touchscreen and a 3.5-inch digital instrument display. The EX Premium and SX Turbo step up to a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital display, with the larger screen able to show Apple CarPlay and Android Auto alongside other information. The SX Turbo also adds a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-litre engine with front-wheel drive is the most efficient setup at 8.2 L/100 km city, 7.1 highway, and 7.7 combined. With AWD, that rises to 8.8 city, 7.6 highway, and 8.2 combined. The 1.6-litre AWD turbo model is rated at 9.4 city, 7.9 highway, and 8.7 combined.

Which 2021 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2021 Kia Seltos is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX Premium, and SX Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and still want useful standard equipment, including heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, and key safety tech such as blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It is also the only trim available with front-wheel drive in Canada, which may suit you if you want the most affordable route into the model.
• EX: This is the trim that adds the most everyday comfort and convenience for the money, with alloy wheels, a sunroof, automatic climate control, and leatherette upholstery. If you want a better-equipped Seltos without jumping to the pricier tech-heavy trims, this is the one to focus on.
• EX Premium: This is the best-value upgrade if you want the richer cabin and the larger infotainment setup. You get the 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, LED lighting, and ambient lighting, plus the full driver-assistance suite.
• SX Turbo: Choose this if you want the strongest engine, standard AWD, the Bose premium sound system, and the most complete feature set. It is the right pick if you care most about performance and equipment rather than keeping the purchase price down.

The safety package expands as you move up the range, with the base LX missing the full driver-assistance suite that comes on the other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Seltos?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 299 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.11% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,300 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $19,511 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,199 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy now, you are entering at a lower average price than last year, which can help reduce the risk of overpaying. For resale, the current softness may limit short-term upside, but a well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers looking for value in a feature-rich subcompact SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2021 Kia Seltos earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, including four-star ratings for frontal crash and rollover and five-star ratings for side impacts.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Seltos comes standard with front- and side-impact airbags, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and rear-seat child-seat anchor latches. In Canada, the base LX also includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a feature that can detect whether it is safe to exit the vehicle when parallel parking. All trims but the base LX add collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. The EX Premium and SX Turbo further add adaptive cruise control with idle stop-and-go.

A key caveat is that some trims lose points for headlight performance and LATCH ease of use, so it is worth checking the exact equipment on the vehicle you are considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It arrives as an all-new model with a high-quality cabin, refined driving dynamics, and strong standard tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,189 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,511 CAD average.
• It adds a practical mix of space, easy-to-use technology, and a strong warranty.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and owner satisfaction is strong. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2022 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2021.
