Why it stands out
The 2021 Dodge Challenger stands out because it blends old-school muscle-car character with everyday usability. It is a five-passenger coupe with a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system that includes a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, which helps make it practical as well as entertaining. It was also designed on a platform suitable for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, giving it a broader range of appeal than a typical performance coupe.
What keeps the Challenger distinctive is the sheer breadth of its personality. Dodge offered a series of Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8 engines, along with a wide spread of transmissions and performance hardware, so buyers could choose anything from an accessible entry-level model to a far more extreme high-performance version. The car also leaned heavily into visual drama, with standout colours, special editions, and styling details such as spoilers, hood scoops, unique fascia and grille designs, special upholstery, and distinctive badging. Widebody variations were offered for some trims in 2019 and 2020, adding broader fenders.
There are trade-offs, though. The Challenger’s long run means prices vary widely, and many examples were neglected or abused. For this model year specifically, the buying guide also notes that later third-generation models are generally better, while the 2012 to 2014 model years are known for engine problems. Even so, the 2021 Dodge Challenger remains appealing for shoppers who want a muscle car with strong personality, plenty of choice, and a mix of performance and comfort that few rivals can match.

This is an amazing car! It is fast, and feels extremely solid. The car is very comfortable to drive, and the placement of gauges and instruments is quite sensible. Apple CarPlay support is excellent, and integrates well with the vehicle. The vehicle also offers UConnect and Android. The entertainment system is high quality. The only negative is that there is no facility for automatic raising of the front windows.

What an amazing car! I bought a 2021 GT less than a week ago and I love it. I cant believe how many features the car has. Just to name a few: Driver seat memory, heated seats, heated steering wheel, launch control, adaptive cruise control, the Harmon\Kardon sound system, it has everything you could ever want and more. Highly recommend to anyone thinking about a Challenger!

With 28.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centred on the car’s power, comfort, and driving experience. The same feedback also suggests it can be a trouble-free fit for shoppers who value strong personality and long-term enjoyment.
For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been cared for properly over time.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Dodge Challenger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 78 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $49,450 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $52,277 CAD sits slightly below last year's $60,171 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays loose. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. The Challenger’s broad appeal and strong enthusiast following can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2021 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $34,678 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $52,277 CAD average.
- It leans hard into retro muscle-car character with modern technology.
The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and shopping flexibility. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2020 is the better path because it delivers the Challenger’s core appeal at a much lower average price.
