What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS and LT focus on value, while Activ and RS add a more distinctive look and standard all-wheel drive. The base setup is simpler, so you should check whether the features you want are included before you buy.
• Powertrain: LS and LT use a turbocharged 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, while the other versions use a turbo 1.3-litre 3-cylinder with 155 hp and 174 lb-ft plus standard AWD and a 9-speed automatic. The smaller engine is paired only with a CVT.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision alert with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a safe following distance indicator. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assistance, a high-definition reversing camera, and adaptive cruise control depend on trim level.
• Infotainment: The standard system has a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth pairing for two phones, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, Teen Driver, and Chevrolet Connected Access with a Wi-Fi hotspot. An available upgrade for Activ and RS adds an 8-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and cloud-connected vehicle personalisation.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test vehicle averaged 8.8 L/100 km, and the official combined rating is 7.6 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LS, LT, Activ, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the value-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the Trailblazer’s style, standard safety tech, and core infotainment without paying for extras.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it keeps the Trailblazer affordable while giving you a more complete everyday package than the LS.
• Activ: This trim adds the rugged appearance treatment, unique wheels, standard AWD, and the more powerful 1.3-litre drivetrain, so it suits you if you want the most character.
• RS: This is the sportier-looking option with standard AWD and the stronger engine, and it fits you if appearance and a more upscale feel matter most.

Chevrolet’s safety package is strong across the lineup, but some driver-assistance features still depend on trim level.

• Deal availability: 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 105 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.12% compared with last year.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer's resale value?

The current average of $19,378 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,380 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests the Trailblazer is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly.

Its strong technology score and broad owner satisfaction should help keep it appealing to used shoppers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

You should note that some trims can add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assistance, a high-definition reversing camera, and adaptive cruise control. The expert drive also flagged some inconsistency from the lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control systems, so those are worth testing carefully on a used example.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings strong technology, a Top Safety Pick+ rating, and a value-oriented entry point into the Trailblazer line.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,121 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,378 CAD average.
• It adds a heated steering wheel and new paint colours.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and inventory is available. If you’re willing to pay more for a few convenience updates, the 2022 is the better secondary path.
