Is the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which lines up with its appeal as a roomy, good-value midsize sedan. It gives you a larger, more open-feeling back seat, an intuitive infotainment setup, and a practical cabin that suits family use without pushing you into a pricier segment. For you, that means the Malibu makes the most sense if you want comfort, space, and everyday usability over flash or performance. 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Malibu is described as having the best reliability record of the front-wheel-drive Malibus, which is a meaningful advantage if you want a used sedan that should be easier to live with over time. Its straightforward 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and six-speed automatic transmission also fit its practical, low-drama character. For used buyers, that combination points to lower long-term ownership risk than you might expect from a value-focused midsize sedan.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 101 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,342 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $16,342 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,859 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. Because the model is already sitting in a lower price band, resale value will likely depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the Malibu at a time when pricing is softer and inventory is still broad enough to compare options, the 2021 is the year to target. It gives you the strongest mix of value, comfort, and buyer appeal in this snapshot. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also use the nearby model years as comparison points, but the 2021 is the better starting point for most shoppers.
