What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Blazer’s trim walk is tied closely to appearance and equipment, with LT and True North sitting below RS and Premier. Base-trim versions miss some of the more upscale styling and convenience touches, while the higher trims add more distinctive design and available premium features.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder in the lower grades and a 3.6-litre V6 on the RS and Premier, with the V6 delivering stronger performance and a sport-tuned setup. AWD is optional on LT and standard on other trims, but the system defaults to FWD unless you select AWD mode.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision alert, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on Premier trims, and enhanced forward emergency braking is only available on top trims.
• Infotainment: Every Blazer gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet Infotainment 3, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a subscription-based 4G WiFi hotspot. A Plus version adds navigation with traffic, onboard apps, better voice recognition, and two-phone pairing.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada ratings for the AWD V6 are 12.0 L/100 km city, 8.7 L/100 km highway, and 10.5 L/100 km combined. The AWD turbo four-cylinder is rated at 10.6 L/100 km city, 8.0 L/100 km highway, and 9.4 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LT, True North, RS, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the entry point, and it makes the Blazer’s style accessible while keeping the core infotainment and safety equipment you’d expect. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest starting price and plan to add only the options you truly need.
• True North: This trim sits above LT and gives you a more feature-rich starting point without jumping all the way to the sportier or more luxurious versions. It’s the best-value choice if you want a balanced mix of equipment and price.
• RS: This is the trim for you if you want the Blazer’s strongest style-and-driving personality, including the V6 and sport-tuned hardware. It suits buyers who care most about the Blazer’s road manners and visual presence.
• Premier: This is the most upscale choice, with the most premium feel and the available safety and convenience content you’re most likely to want on a used example. It makes the most sense if you want the most complete Blazer experience.

Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on Premier trims, while enhanced forward emergency braking is only available on top trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 88 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.67% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,614 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?

The current average of $25,686 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,102 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Blazer easier to buy now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one for a few years, the current softness may limit near-term upside, especially if you buy at the higher end of the range. On the other hand, a distinctive model with strong demand from style-focused shoppers can still hold attention better than a more ordinary crossover.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall and in all three crash tests. It also earns top Good ratings from IIHS in all crash tests, though headlights receive Marginal and Poor ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision alert, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on Premier trims. A driver’s knee airbag is standard, but GM’s inboard side airbag is not offered, and rear emergency braking is not available. The Blazer also does not have a semi-automated traffic function.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for sporty styling, responsive power, and strong technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,680 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,686 CAD average.
• It adds a more practical, road-focused take on the same sporty formula.

The bottom line: If you want the better-value buy, the 2021 is the smarter target because prices have eased and inventory is available. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the secondary path for buyers who want the same style-led appeal with a slightly different emphasis.
