How much does the 2021 Acura RDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 161 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2021 Acura RDX a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Acura RDX earns a 4.69/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its fantastic value, comfort, fun driving experience, spacious interior, and stylish design. That lines up well with the RDX’s role as a compact luxury crossover SUV that blends practicality with a more engaging personality, plus Acura’s modern styling and rethought infotainment approach.

With 24.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive example.

Is the 2021 Acura RDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, with praise for its value, comfort, and overall quality. The expert evaluation also highlights a strong ownership proposition, noting that you get more for less and that the RDX combines quality materials, standard and available technologies, and high safety ratings.

The performance evaluation adds to that dependability picture with predictable handling characteristics, precise and communicative steering, and fade-resistant brakes that are easy to modulate. The cost-effectiveness assessment also notes that you get more for less, which supports the case for a trouble-free ownership experience if you choose a well-kept example.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is more about living with the interface and fuel-economy complaints than major durability concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Acura RDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim starts the range, while the Tech trim adds the blind-spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alert that are missing from the base model. The A-Spec brings sportier styling and a more distinctive cabin, while the Elite and Platinum Elite focus more on equipment and refinement.
• Powertrain: Every model uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and standard SH-AWD. The driving character is described as rewarding, with broad torque and predictable handling.
• Safety package: Acura’s standard suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. You need to move up to the Tech trim for blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses Acura’s True Touchpad Interface with a non-touchscreen setup, plus standard satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi tethering. The system is improved over older approaches, but it still takes time to learn and can be distracting.
• Fuel efficiency: Some owners are disappointed by fuel economy, and the expert evaluation also flags fuel economy as a drawback.

Which 2021 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2021 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: base, Tech, A-Spec, Elite, Platinum Elite.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, but it misses blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert, so it makes the most sense only if you are focused on the lowest starting price.
• Tech: This is the best-value trim because it adds the key safety upgrades missing from the base model while keeping the RDX’s core strengths intact.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest look and a more distinctive cabin, including front sport seats with simulated suede inserts, red stitching, and unique trim details.
• Elite: This trim leans more toward comfort and refinement, with fewer styling changes than the A-Spec and a slightly lower price than the A-Spec.
• Platinum Elite: This is the top trim, adding the most upscale equipment and the adaptive-damping suspension.

The safety-package trim note is simple: if you want blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert, you need at least the Tech trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Acura RDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 161 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,837 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $32,837 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,839 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for future sellers to command top dollar unless the vehicle is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean. If you own one now, the current trend means you may need to price competitively to move it quickly.

At the same time, the RDX’s strong mix of value, comfort, and style helps support demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Acura RDX safe?

The 2021 Acura RDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, with four-star ratings in frontal-impact and rollover resistance crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura equips every RDX with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. However, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base trim, so you need to move up to the Tech trim for those features.

One caveat is that the RDX’s safety suite is not as comprehensive as the one in Acura’s newer TLX, since it lacks pedestrian detection, traffic-sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist.

Should I buy a 2021 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It pairs Acura’s latest styling direction with the rethought True Touchpad Interface and a strong value proposition.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $30,068 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,837 CAD average.
• It offers plenty of space, creature comforts, and safety tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,725 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $32,837 CAD average.
• It adds fresh styling, a quieter cabin, and more equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, modern design, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2021 is the sweet spot. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value play; if you want newer updates and are willing to pay more, the 2022 is worth a look.
