The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value comfort and safety over flash. Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Volvo XC90?

It looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be patient and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 80 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.35% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,418 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $30,427 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,686 CAD.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum. If you keep the vehicle well maintained and present it with strong documentation, you may be better positioned when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,653 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $30,427 CAD average.
• It adds a few newly standard tech features.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping the used market for a well-equipped luxury SUV. If you want to spend more for a slightly newer model with a few added features, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2020.
