The current average of $17,519 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,924 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can make it harder to command top dollar in the near term. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,333 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,519 CAD average.
• It brings back a more upscale feel and a more rewarding driving experience.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and a wider chance of finding a deal. If you can stretch your budget and want a more polished feel, the 2021 is the better upgrade path.
