There are 59 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 5.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, power, and spacious interior, and many describe it as sturdy and dependable for long-term ownership. The overview also points to its appeal for buyers who value durability above all else, while the expert summary reinforces that it should prove “utterly bulletproof” in terms of reliability.

The trade-offs are clear: the truck is uncompetitive in numerous ways, and the expert notes call out poor fuel economy and noise. Even so, if you want a full-size pickup that prioritises long-term dependability and cabin space over modern polish, this year’s Tundra fits that brief. With 23.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly describes the Tundra as reliable, dependable, and well suited to long-term ownership. The expert summary goes further, saying it should prove “utterly bulletproof” in terms of reliability, and the cost-effectiveness notes also point to Tundras being notorious for holding their value over time.

Toyota’s ownership appeal is strengthened by the truck’s reputation for durability, but used buyers should still weigh age-related wear and the model’s weaker efficiency and safety results when judging long-term risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Tundra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR, SR5, and Platinum are the main trims, and the higher you climb, the fancier and plusher the Tundra gets. The SR5 can be paired with packages such as SX, TRD Off-road, TRD Off-road Premium, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Pro, and Chrome Appearance, while the Platinum can add a 1794 Edition package. Base-trim feature gaps matter because lower trims use the 7-inch display, while more expensive versions upgrade to an 8-inch screen.
• Powertrain: Every 2020 Tundra uses a 5.7-litre V8 with a six-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain is described as a refined and durable workhorse, with robust power and a transmission that is flawless.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, including a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available, and most Tundras include a free year of Safety Connect services.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get a 7-inch display, while higher trims upgrade to an 8-inch screen. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB media and charging ports are included, and the top system adds dynamic navigation, dynamic voice recognition, dynamic point-of-interest search, SiriusXM satellite radio, and connected safety services.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says a Tundra 4WD burns 18.0 L/100 km in the city, 14.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 16.3 L/100 km combined. The expert also says fuel efficiency is unimpressive, and the week-long test average was 16.4 L/100 km.

Which 2020 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota Tundra is offered in 3 trim levels: SR, SR5, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Tundra’s core durability and space without paying for the fancier trim upgrades. It also matters most if you’re comfortable with the more basic 7-inch display and fewer comfort touches.
• SR5: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it opens the door to the widest range of packages, including TRD Off-road, TRD Sport, and Chrome Appearance options. If you want the broadest mix of capability and equipment without jumping to the priciest trim, this is the one to focus on.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the plushest version of the Tundra, since the higher you climb, the fancier and plusher it gets. It also unlocks the 1794 Edition package for shoppers who want a more upscale feel.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Tundra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 23.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 59 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,461 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $45,066 CAD sits slightly below last year's $49,883 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased for buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar immediately. Even so, the Tundra’s reputation for holding value helps support demand, especially among shoppers who prioritise durability and long-term ownership.

Because the model is still associated with reliability and strong owner satisfaction, it should remain appealing to used-truck buyers. That said, resale strength will depend on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2020 Toyota Tundra gets Good ratings in the IIHS tests that were most revealing in earlier years, but it earns Marginal and Poor results in small-overlap frontal-impact testing, and its headlights are rated Marginal. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, including a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available, and most Tundras include a free year of Safety Connect services with automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling.

The main caveat is the truck’s crash-test performance, which is weaker than its active-safety equipment would suggest. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to trim and equipment, but the underlying crash results remain a meaningful concern.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 23.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for reliability and long-term dependability, even though it is uncompetitive in numerous ways.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,864 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $45,066 CAD average.
• It keeps the old-school formula relevant with key updates and special editions.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the better price and are comfortable with its age-related compromises. Consider the 2021 if you’re willing to pay more for a slightly fresher take on the same proven formula.
