CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Porsche Macan
Summary
With 111 currently listed for sale and an average price of $40,417 CAD, 36.9% of 2020 Porsche Macan listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Porsche Macan 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Porsche Macan stands out as a compact luxury SUV that puts driving enjoyment ahead of outright practicality. It has all-wheel drive and a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung dual-clutch automatic transmission, and its sportier brief gives it a more agile character than many rivals. That focus on performance is a big part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want an SUV that feels closer to a sports car than a family hauler.
For 2020, the Macan also benefits from the major update that brought a redesigned dashboard and a next-generation infotainment system with a larger touchscreen, along with a sharper front-end look and a full-width rear light bar. The range of engines was also improved, with increases of between 8 and 34 hp for all versions but the base model. Standard equipment is strong too, with electric front seat adjustment, electric folding door mirrors, and a power tailgate, while the 2016 model year onwards added three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and lane departure warning on the base model.
The trade-off is that the Macan is not especially spacious inside, and higher-powered versions use more fuel. It also has a higher-than-average price, but for buyers who value a premium interior, strong reliability, and a genuinely engaging drive, the 2020 Porsche Macan remains a distinctive choice.

Best daily family car especially with the air suspension. Only grip so far is that it doesn’t have a track change button on the steering wheel which is very annoying

Very fun to drive - a solid car. Some user features are a little questionable - for example, cant lock the car from the inside, cant change the radio station from the steering wheel, the memory seat preset works by pressing the button the entire time that the seat is moving into position (in other cars this works as soon as you press the button and let go), no off button for the auto a/c, you have to turn the fan speed down all the way to turn it off. Coming from Lexus to this car is definitely a learning curve. However, it looks, sounds, and feels great. Solid power for the S version, powerful brakes, handling is superb.

How much does the 2020 Porsche Macan cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $40,408 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $40,384 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $49,540 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $48,924 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −17.41% |
Prices have softened 17.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 112 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice in the used market.
Is the 2020 Porsche Macan a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Porsche Macan earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its impressive performance, solid power, handling, and luxury feel, and many compare it favourably against competitors. It also fits you well if you want a compact luxury SUV that puts driving enjoyment ahead of outright practicality. With 37.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Porsche Macan reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with the Macan earning praise for its strong overall quality and long-term appeal. If you want a used luxury SUV you can count on, this model year looks reassuring on paper.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that premium performance and luxury vehicles can be costly to keep if you need repairs or maintenance.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Porsche Macan?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 112 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.41% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $40,384 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Porsche Macan's resale value?
The current average of $40,408 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,924 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be good news if you're buying now but less favourable if you're planning to sell soon. A softer market can mean you may need to price more competitively when it is time to move on from the vehicle. Even so, the Macan's premium badge and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand among used shoppers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Porsche Macan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.41% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2020 Macan is the better pick if you want the updated styling, revised cabin, and strong owner approval in a compact luxury SUV that prioritises driving enjoyment. If you're more price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2020 stands out as the more compelling choice when you want the best balance of satisfaction and market value.
