Is the 2020 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Kia Sportage earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently highlight its spacious and luxurious interior, along with great features for the price. That lines up well if you want a practical compact SUV that prioritises cabin space and everyday comfort. Is the 2020 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centred on how well the Sportage serves as a comfortable daily vehicle. Its reputation for being easy to live with and suitable for long-term use is reinforced by the positive comments about value and interior quality. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a well-kept example may still come with the usual wear-and-tear concerns you should check carefully before buying.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 251 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.37% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,622 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $17,622 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,580 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it a tougher vehicle for sellers to command top dollar in the near term. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current softness means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. A well-kept example with desirable features should still stand out, but the broader market is currently leaning in the buyer’s favour.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Sportage makes sense if you want a comfortable, well-equipped compact SUV and you value a strong owner satisfaction score alongside softer pricing. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year with a lower asking price may be worth a look, but the 2020 remains the better all-around choice if you want the refreshed features and a solid mix of comfort and value.
