Summary
With 27 currently listed for sale near Vancouver, BC and an average price of $33,244 CAD, 33.3% of 2020 Ford Mustangs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford Mustang 4.73 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford Mustang stands out as a classic pony car that still feels relevant in a market dominated by SUVs. It is described as a building block for Ford’s future, yet it remains rooted in the Mustang’s traditional appeal: gasoline power, rear-wheel-drive attitude, and a focus on performance. The available powertrain choices help give it broad appeal, and the car’s reputation for being fun to drive is a major part of its identity.
It also offers strong value for money, which makes it attractive to buyers who want performance without stepping into a more expensive sports car. At the same time, the Mustang’s compromises are clear: cargo space is limited, and advanced safety features are not standard. That balance of excitement and practicality is part of what makes the 2020 Ford Mustang distinctive, especially for shoppers who care more about driving enjoyment and style than everyday utility.

I put 16000 miles on a new 2020 Mustang. Absolutely no issues. It also got great gas mileage. I averaged 29.6 mpg for the whole time I owned the car. I had the manual which was a little stiff when I first got it but worked in great.

The 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost HPP: A Balanced Masterpiece The 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost High Performance Package (HPP) represents a unique blend of spirited performance, efficiency, and everyday practicality. While the Mustang name traditionally evokes the rumble of a V8, this EcoBoost variant proves that turbocharged four-cylinder power can deliver just as much excitement with a modern twist. Under the hood lies a 2.3L turbocharged engine generating an impressive 330 horsepower, enabling a 0-60 mph time of just 4.5 seconds. This level of performance, paired with MagneRide suspension and a Torsen limited-slip differential, gives the EcoBoost HPP dynamic handling characteristics that shine on both the open road and twisty mountain passes. What truly sets this Mustang apart is its balance of performance and fuel efficiency. Rated at 20-27 MPG, it offers a range of approximately 450 miles per tank, making it an excellent choice for road trips. This was evident during a recent drive from Oregon to Colorado, where the EcoBoost excelled at tackling diverse terrains while offering a smooth and comfortable ride. Beyond its performance, the EcoBoost HPP proves to be a stylish and versatile companion. Its sleek design, aggressive stance, and advanced technology make it a car that commands attention. Whether cruising through fall foliage or tearing up the quarter-mile track, this Mustang excels in every scenario. For enthusiasts seeking a thrilling, efficient, and modern take on the Mustang legacy, the EcoBoost HPP is a masterpiece.

Prices have softened 14.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 170 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2020 Ford Mustang a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Ford Mustang earns a 4.73/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.
Owners consistently praise its power, fun driving experience, and stylish looks, and many also appreciate the comfort of the seats and the range of engine choices. The trade-offs are clear: cargo space is limited, and advanced safety features are not standard.
That makes it a strong fit if you want a performance-focused car that still feels special in daily use, especially if style and driving enjoyment matter more to you than practicality. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.
Is the 2020 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a car that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to count on over time, with owners repeatedly highlighting its strong performance and enjoyable ownership experience. The expert review also frames it as a car that delivers serious performance while still feeling composed enough for everyday driving.
The ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright durability concerns and more about choosing a well-kept example that matches your expectations for a performance car.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Mustang?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Bullitt stands out with its clean, classic look, unique green stitching, cue-ball shifter, and serialized plaque, while the standard GT Performance Package adds structural bracing, improved cooling, a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, modified steering and suspension tuning, and Brembo brakes. Base-level cars miss some of those performance and appearance upgrades.
- Powertrain: You can find everything from a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder to a 5.0-litre V8, plus higher-output Shelby variants. The Bullitt uses a 5.0-litre V8 with extra horsepower and a six-speed manual only, so make sure the drivetrain matches how you want to drive.
- Safety package: The car includes a reversing camera, MyKey, and 911 Assist, while blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is part of the optional Electronics Package. Semi-autonomous safety features are notably limited.
- Infotainment: The Sync 3 system uses an 8-inch touchscreen and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also has voice recognition, but the interface is showing its age compared with newer systems.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder EcoBoost Mustang delivers 11.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.3 on the highway, and 9.4 combined. The Bullitt sits at 16.4/10.2/13.6, while the Shelby GT500 returns 19.9/12.7/16.7.
Which 2020 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford Mustang is offered in 6 trim levels: EcoBoost Fastback, EcoBoost Convertible, Mustang GT, Shelby GT350, Shelby GT350R, and Shelby GT500.
Here's the short version:
- EcoBoost Fastback: This is the entry point if you want Mustang style and the broadest access to the lineup without stepping into V8 pricing. It suits you if value matters most and you still want the classic rear-wheel-drive experience.
- EcoBoost Convertible: Choose this if open-air driving matters more to you than outright performance upgrades. It gives you the same basic entry-level appeal with the added appeal of top-down cruising.
- Mustang GT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it brings the 5.0-litre V8 and the stronger performance character that defines the Mustang name. If you want the sweet spot between price and excitement, this is the one to focus on.
- Shelby GT350: Pick this if you want a more serious performance edge and are willing to pay for it. It is aimed at drivers who care more about track-ready capability than everyday compromise.
- Shelby GT350R: This is the most focused choice for buyers who want the sharpest performance-oriented setup in the range. It makes sense if you prioritise driving intensity above comfort and convenience.
- Shelby GT500: This is the top performance choice, with the most power in the lineup. It suits you if you want the most extreme Mustang experience and are comfortable paying for it.
The safety content also notes that advanced safety features are limited, with blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning reserved for the optional Electronics Package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Mustang?
This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough pricing softness to create opportunities.
- Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 170 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.30% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $32,942 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $35,446 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,362 CAD.
That price drop suggests future sellers may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but resale gains are less likely to be strong in the near term.
For a seller, the upside is that the Mustang still has clear enthusiast appeal, which helps support demand. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and strong presentation should hold attention better than average.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford Mustang safe?
The 2020 Ford Mustang gets good crash-test ratings, for the most part, with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) giving it the top rating of Good in most crashworthiness tests and an Acceptable rating for driver protection in a small overlap frontal-impact collision. In testing performed by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Mustang gets five stars in every test, including for rollover resistance.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera, MyKey, and 911 Assist, while blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is available through the optional Electronics Package. The review also makes clear that semi-autonomous safety features are largely absent.
That means you should not expect the Mustang to match the driver-assistance coverage of many newer mainstream cars. If safety tech is a top priority, you will want to verify the equipment list carefully before you buy.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.30% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford’s 2020 Mustang lineup spans everything from efficient turbo-four models to high-output V8 performance, giving you broad choice.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $31,739 CAD, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $35,446 CAD average.
- It leans heavily into its Bullitt heritage with extra style and added performance.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market value story and a wide range of trims, the 2020 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less up front and you like the Bullitt’s heritage-driven appeal, the 2019 is the more price-sensitive alternative.
